Summary: system does not connect via hdmi like newer systems. that means when you turn the tv on and off, the sound system stays on. other than than it is an okay system since the sound quality is better than the tv speakers.
Would not recommend. Save your money and buy something designed better.

Summary: Bought a refurbished unit. Unit worked for about 20 minutes, overheated quit working. I requested a refund. IN those 20 minutes, here's what I noticed, and one the reason I requested a refund. The remote control is almost unusable. Clear line of sight, approx range = 12 feet. Very little deviation in angles. VERY little. Soundbar itself sounded pretty good. Looked great. Unfortunately, the LEDs on the front of the unit are extremely hard to read/decipher.
Summary: 1. The sound is not discernibly better than the built-in speakers in my Samsung 50" DLP. The only real difference is that music plays twice as loud as speech, so you have to keep continually adjusting the volume. 2. The cheesy little remote has a true range (despite what the specs say) of about 8-10 feet. If you sit farther than that from your set, you'll get a lot of exercise. 3. The optical input port broke after a couple of months so it will no longer hold the cable.
Summary: I have this connected to a Vizio 47" TV using the analog audio connections. The sound is an upgrade over the TV's built in sound and the subwoofer is definitely a nice addition when watching a movie. My main issue with this item is the remote control. The included remote is tiny and cheezy. It does not work unless you get within about 6 or 8 feet of the sound bar.
