Summary: I enjoyed this thing for several years. Audio quality is pretty good although range is somewhat limited. Unfortunately, Sony has abandoned support for the product. The rechargeable battery is no longer available from Sony or any of their alternate parts suppliers. Sony should have told us this was a throw-away item when we bought it. Shame on Sony.
Summary: Sounds decent when connection is good. Subject to interference when nearing cordless phone, 2-way radio, any RF device or busy computer work station. Good Ebay item as original MSRP is simply over-priced. Same / similar technology can be found with AR, RCA, cable unlimited, etc. Dedicated transmitter not required - can be tuned to optimize reception.
Summary: The best thing about this is that I can walk around in the house with the speaker on battery in the morning while I'm getting ready for work and listen to my favorite news podcast. The reception isn't perfect, especially if my body gets in the way of the signal and if I'm behind some closed doors. My wife is generally not that impressed with it and if it was up to her, we'd be returning it. Most places in the kitchen cannot pickup the signal or its horribly spotty.
Summary: WE love the Sony Wireless Speaker... it is portable and the sound is excellent. One problem... the on/off button is prone to failure and they don't want to repair it they want to sell you a refurbished unit for $94.
Summary: According to other reviews, some people were surprised to receive a speaker without a transmitter. That's because you can order this speaker WITH or WITHOUT a transmitter. Start by ordering it with a transmitter. Then, if you want to ADD ADDITIONAL SPEAKERS, you can order the speaker only. One transmitter can drive as many speakers as desired. For example, in our house, we have one transmitter and five speakers.
Summary: If you want to buy additional speakers to go with the single speaker included here, order item SRS-RF90R (the SPEAKER ONLY). In our house, we use one transmitter with five speakers, each in different rooms. Transmitter in the basement works fine with the speakers all the way up in third-floor bedrooms. Additional Comments =================== - Overall we're very happy with this product. - Sound quality is good, but not equal to a wired speaker.
Great product all-around but be sure to kill any radio interference...

Summary: Great product all-around but be sure to kill any radio interference or else you will have a hell of a time getting quality sound out of these babies. When you do find a good spot, my recommendation is to place them high up on a shelf or something like that, they work fantastic. Remember to check what radio interference is around the 900 MHz range (e.g. cell phone?
