Sony SRS-BTX500 Bluetooth Wireless Speaker Review

14 June 2013
  • Conclusion: It's hard to stand out in the sea of tabletop speakers out there. Sony has made a nice effort with its SRS-BTX500. It doesn't pack the same power as something like the Sonos PLAY:3 , which I think projects slightly better sound overall for the same $299.99 MSRP.
  • Pros: Built-in Bluetooth, One-touch NFC pairing, Rechargeable battery for on the go, Very nice 2.1 sound
  • Cons: No AirPlay, Audio In button seems unnecessary, Would be nice to have a control app, Takes 4 hours of charging time just to get 6 hours of wireless playtime

Pocket Lint
24 July 2013
  • Conclusion: There can't be much argument that nearly £300 for a portable Bluetooth speaker is a lot of cash. But that said, the sound quality from this Sony is nothing short of amazing. It's also a fantastic speakerphone and we think it looks ace too.
  • Pros: Sounds amazing, looks great, built-in battery, NFC for Bluetooth pairing is a dream come true, simple to use, loud
  • Cons: Easy to leave on and thus drain the battery
