Awesome Travel Buddy .. Great speakerphone & mic...
4 October 2007
Summary: I've had this for a few days now -- I am a field engineer. I travel a lot, and have needs to communicate with colleagues, customers and partners during business hours. During the down time, I need to reach friends, family & relatives that are in a few different cities around the world. This tool, along with my webcam allows for seamless IP audio & video communications.
Pros: * Crisp Audio & Clarity * Compact, Light and easy to carry with.
Cons: I'm being picky here.. Really no weaknesses. Would be great if it came with a dial pad. But really useful tool.
Summary: Overall, I am very pleased with this device due to its call quality and would recommend it to others. Software: Instructed to load from CD, however, CD did not load on autorun. Produced error: cannot find ‘file:///res/MainFrame.html’. Bypassed the auto load; went to “res” directory and loaded directly the “MainFram.html” OK. Instructed to download Polycom and Skype SW. Already had Skype. Link provided to Polycom website. Downloaded without a hitch and ran setup file.
Pros: Call quality: minimal echo. Great! Powers up with only USB connection. USB cord is wrapped in internal enclosure when done. Headphone jack for more private conversations. Skype launch button.
Cons: Larger size than other Skype speakerphones. More expensive than other models. CD install could be more fluid. States that it only works with XP.
Summary: I've been using my laptop speaker for 4 years and after a Lync meeting with poor reception where I was repeating things over and over I decided to buy the polycom and never had reception since! Not sure why I didnt pick up one of these sooner.
Summary: This is simply a fantastic communicator - the clarity is exceptional. However, it doesn't always work and the Polycom homepage is worse than useless, telling you more about the features that telling you how to get it to work!
Summary: I picked this up to add to our conference room setup at work. The room seats 20-30 people and this speakerphone is sufficiently loud and clear that the remote meeting attendees can actively participate in the meeting. Occasionally, if a speaker is more than 8 feet away and speaking quietly, the remote attendee will be unable to hear what that speaker is saying; this is expected and fine with me.
Summary: The speakerphone works really well for our needs. We have a small group meeting with another small group and the sound quality is a huge improvement over using a laptop microphone. So far, no problems.
Summary: Just reading the reviews which were posted a few years ago. I just plugged one of these into my laptop running windows 7 and it worked straight away - no drivers to install, no rebooting. Skype even picked up that there was new hardware and prompted me to enable it. The microphone is super sensitive if it needs to be so will pick up good voice from a distance, but since skype controls the volume it will adapt to the situation.
Summary: This is a great product for the money, especially at Amazon's prices (cost through distributor was about $40 more). Skyping quality is great, but I use this as a travel speaker as well - it's compact and durable for travel. I love it!
