Summary: This is a great sounding player. Though I thought I did a good amount of research, I have been consistently disappointed by the ease of use of this player. As usual, unless you have an Apple product, you will be challenged to get this device to work properly. Further, it seems unless you have music physically stored on your device, you'll be further challenged to get music to play wirelessly.
Summary: I tried everything. Or so I thought. Then I went into my router settings and put the router into A/B/G/N compatibility mode. Problem solved. Blue network light came on. Yes, Pioneer, you lost. I figured it out. I beat you. Try to make it a little more confusing next time. Once I got it working, I really am enjoying this speaker. For it's price, the sound quality is great and I have very few audio drop outs.
Looks Good and is highly portable. Download the App!

Summary: The device was easier than I thought to set up. The airplay works great. Really happy with the battery to take it outside. As some reviewers have pointed out the sound quality is not the best. I'm not an audiophile and I notice a little more muffled sound than I would like. If you are an audiophile you may give the device a lower grade. For me the sound quality is not an issue but the only reason I held it back from 5 stars. The Sound quality is adequate.
Great sound, terrible user manual, horrible networking that seems impossible to set up easily - if at all

Summary: Purchased for an Apple iOS and OSX household. Having had only very good AirPlay experiences (piece of cake to set up) this speaker has be a big challenge that, as of this moment, remains unsolved. (Solved, sort of, update below) It is *entirely* Pioneer's fault too. They made what should be easy peasy for AirPlay users a total nightmare to understand and actually execute. Regardless, I soldiered on... No networking seems to work setting up this speaker.
Summary: its a deep, somewhat hollow sound but its tolerable and it doesn't sound bad. its actually really good. They really need to improve its standby and load time though. its takes FOREVER (1.5 minutes) to turn on.
Summary: I bought this unit for use at my pool. Being that I tend to apply sun screen while being outside and ended up pressing the power button to turn it on - it completely stained the surface. In addition, grabbing the unit to move it also caused discoloration in various other areas. Note - it wasn't as if I had just finished applying sun screen. I applied it, washed my hands, then picked up the unit. See pictures regarding this issue.
Summary: I wanted to check the state of some new Airplay speakers, so I decided to compare a few of them, namely the: - Bose SoundLink Air - Pioneer A4 XW-SMA4-K - Pioneer A3 XW-SMA3-K - Logitech Wireless Boombox Right off the bat, you can notice that the Logitech unit is in a different category. It's much less expensive (1/3 the price) and uses bluetooth rather than Wi-fi. However since it received great reviews online, I decided to compare it as well. I'm glad I did (read on!).
Compatible with 5th generation iPod touch even if label says otherwise
26 December 2013
Summary: Great looking speakers and great sound! Love the fact we can just port them from one room to the next. Bye-bye tangled cables! First thought that these are not compatible with 5th generation iPod touch as we couldn't get them on our home network and spent a lot of time trying. The label on the box doesn't list 5th generation as they were made before the 5th generation came out but as they all have Air-Play, they will work (and so does my Ipad and Iphone!).
