Summary: I was looking for multimedia speakers with decent midrange - usually lacking in this price range. Figured the larger speaker diameter would help. Overall good, balanced sound for near-field listening. They don't hold up well with distance, at any volume. Don't bother if you're looking for a whole-room speaker!
Sound quality not quite as good as expected, after reading other reviews
9 December 2012
Summary: I was expecting a little better sound quality after reading so many other very positive reviews. They are decent, especially just for listening to audio books, but I expected a little richer sound when listening to music. My Creative Lab T20 set sounds quite a bit better (fuller bass, clearer treble) when I did a side-by-side test (yes, those are a little more expensive too, but actually have a smaller main driver in them).
Summary: For the price the Phillips SPA7210 speakers are a great deal; crisp and full sound with great clarity. The systems has enough power to fill a small room or in a large room for the direct user to be fairly immersed in sound. If you are looking for a lot of bass or if your computer doubles for your TV then you probably want to spend more than $50 on speakers. Other reviewers seem to either love or hate these speakers, both have valid points.
