Summary: I thought speakers were supposed to make things louder. Silly me. The actual sound quality is good when you can hear it. I wanted a small set of speakers to play music outside on my deck. I could not hear what was going on in the privacy of my own house.
Summary: Terrible speakers for laptop connections, actually DIMINISHES the sound output, if you can believe that. Very frustrating to have to get rid of them.... I guess if you wanted to transfer sound directly from your ipod it does the bare minimum but the term "speakers" is generous. Waste of money on my part!
Summary: I bought these on impulse but regret it now. They are softer than the speakers in my laptop. What junk. Why do they even make such things? They must know that customers are just going to return them.
Summary: I bought these Philips speakers for my mother to use with her IPod Mini. I was very surprised with the sound quality of these speakers. By all means it is not the best speaker in the market. But I needed something simple and without any battery, something that my mother could just plug it in and hear the sound. I went through couple of different ones (Cowby and two other no name brands) but this was by far the best ones.
Summary: I bought this product for the sole purpose of attaching them to my mp3 player so i can listen to music while i shower in the campus floor community bathrooms. I needed cheap and portability. Though I'm normally the type who needs good sound quality, i wasn't worried about it for my specific use. With that in mind, this was a very good purchase (thus the 3 star rating).
Summary: As other reviewers have mentioned these portable speakers are not loud as they depend on your device for volume. But I can say as an audiophile and musician -- these little speakers are fantastic! They have true range of sound (highs, mids, lows) with fine gradients as well. If you put them up to your ear you will hear just how clear and true the sound is. Of course you will not listen to them this way -- but to judge the quality of the sound - that is the test I used.
