Summary: I own a Logitech UE wireless boombox, which is about half the size of the Philips ShoqBox and has far superior sound. Comparatively, the sound of the ShoqBox is flat and lacks richness. If you are a sound snob, you will be very disappointed.
Summary: The speaker sounded decent, I was not blown away but it did a good job of producing music. The problem was that the button did not always turn the unit off and the parts did not fit together as shown on the site. I returned this product and will end up with either the JBL Charge or the FoxL Dash 7 when it comes out. To bad because I really like the design of the Philips Shoqbox but the execution was lacking.
Summary: I really like this speaker -- the design is innovative and the sound is great. Unfortunately, I received a defective unit where some features do not work. For example, the motion sensor function does not work and I am not able to determine in any way how much battery is left. Also, most strangely, the unit will not reset. Nothing I do will return it to its factory settings. What I like: -- nice-looking unit; it's small, but not too small.
Summary: Yes, it is louder than Jambox and FoxL which are probably the most direct competitors, but sound quality is even worse. At normal listening levels the sound is flat and lifeless, with overemphasized mids sounding as if music was coming out of a pot, the FoxL sounds more refined with similarly or even more powerful bass although being half as small. This Philips speaker already has about 24oz capacity and should pump out some serious bass if engineered correctly.
Excerpt: This is probably meant as a direct competitor to the popular Jambox from Philips. It is already twice as large and weights twice as much, but costs about the same, unfortunately sound quality is hardly any better. The SB7300 plays much louder, I would say about twice as loud than the Jambox, but at normal listening levels the sound isnt really better than that from similar ultraportable speakers.
Pros: great design, quite loud, can be paired with another Shoqbox for stereosound
Cons: too tinny and basslight for size, too big compared to Jambox etc., distortion at high volume, motion control doesn't always work well, annoying tones when turning on/off
