Summary: Pros: Cheap price, surprisingly low bass extension Cons: Cheap quality (don't expect it to last long), poor customer service I had ordered the NXG-BAS500 about 3 months ago and have been pleased with the value up until now. I noticed when I played my music one day that it sounded more flat due to lack of bass. The subwoofer seemed to have stopped working. I keep it at a little less than 50% volume and auto power on.

Summary: My basement recently flooded and I lost my $600 Electrovoice Subwoofer. Not covered by insurance. Still had 2 EV ZLX15 Powered PA speakers and really liked having a Sub with them. Could not afford another $600 so I started looking. Actually, one of the first Subs I looked at was the NX-BAS-500. I was impressed by the reviews. No one else in this price range came anywhere near.

Summary: I bought this sub from Radio Shack cause it was $10 cheaper, I let play all night at low settings for sub to break in off it's stiffness. Decided to crank it up the following day see what all the raving reviews we're. Bad First First thoughts- No way is this a 500 watt sub sounds more like a 250 watt sub -No Tech support number -Sometimes the 24hz range sounds extremely muddy.

Summary: Was eager to audition this sub, what with the high praise and great reviews I've read, although from a limited number of sources. First off, this is a good performing sub. I say good, but not great. I was in a unique situation where I also have the Klipsch sub-12 to compare head to head against the NX-BAS-500. Without getting too wordy, let's just say the Klipsch was as good or maybe a little better overall.
Summary: There is not much I can add that others have not already said. I was able to compare this side by side to a PSW505 and can say that there is no comparison. The NXG out performs the 505 in every way. It is cleaner, louder and goes deeper - all without even breaking in the NXG. One other person had mentioned a burning smell coming out of the port and I did experience this as well.
Summary: Great sub for the price. I added this to my living room home theater to pair with my BIC Acoustech PL-200. They perform very similar and both sound great. The NX-BAS-500 is a bit smaller, and a lighter sub than the PL-200 but sounds just as good, if not a bit better on the very low end. Very happy with it and would buy it again for sure. Now I have a first world problem of too much bass.
