A love affair that couldn't last...

Summary: Loved these speakers so much, I bought a second pair after the first set died (I should have known better). This 2nd set now has problems with the left speaker starting to go after roughly two years. Very disappointed these aren't built to last even a couple years longer, and would have preferred to leave a favorable review. Sadly these were only lightly used at moderate volume levels. I can't even claim they were ruined being over driven at a party!!
Summary: Awesome sound. Problem is the system started delivering distorted sound after a period of time. Would like to buy these again for the sound but cannot recommended purchasing as they don't last long and there is no affordable repair option.
Summary: I got a pair of AV40 that says "latest version". The features are great, price was ok, but it sounded terrible. There was this "boxy" mids and "tinny" highs that drives me up the wall. After 2 days I couldn't stand it any more. Armed with a lot of experience building speaker boxes in my past, I removed the back of the speakers and added sound absorbing material.
Summary: These speakers sounded great after a small break in period. Stage was pretty good, high frequencies were clear but not to bright/crisp and the bass had a good presence without being overwhelming. Unfortunately mine developed a crackling/static noise after only 8 months of use. This crackling noise is more audible as you increase volume and it's heard whether they are connected to a input or not.
Summary: They worked great for a couple months . I had a set before of the predecessor that had a left speaker problem. I was hoping these wouldn't do the same thing. Only the right one works. It seems to be a common problem. If you only need one speaker then these are fantastic.
Great sound quality, but the right speaker broke in about a year.

Summary: I'm using these as computer speakers for Pandora, mp3s and DAW software; and I am enjoying the sound quality. For the sake of informing potential buyers, I'll say: With a 'normal' at home computer set-up, these are very large compared to 'normal' computer speakers, so keep that in mind. It's the trade off for superior sound, and not needing a sub-woofer, or a large box shaped power adapter plug spanning 2-3 outlets. These have a basic electrical plug (like a table lamp).
Distorted sound, abysmal tech support from manufacturer

Summary: These speakers have a great sound to them, so long as you're not listening to anything with any frequencies around 500Hz or so. The sound gets distorted, and it only worsens as time goes on. In addition, M-Audio's customer support is nearly nonexistent. I spent approximately 1 hour on hold with them (~45m on the first try, gave up; another 15m on hold about an hour later with no luck).
Summary: For all intensive purposes, these are good sounding speakers. They're well balanced, not super punchy on the bass, and are reasonably accurate for the casual ear. It's nice to have headphone outputs for times you want to keep the music down if someone else in the room doesn't want to listen to what you're listening to at the time.
However, that's pretty much where the good things end.
Excerpt: Можно использовать только вместе с сабом (возможно, АВ40 просто запирает от низких частот)... Самодостаточной эта акустика не является.
Pros:
