DO NOT BUY
David Consiglio, Jr., Amazon
8 December 2014
Summary: Many have said it, but I will, too: Do NOT buy these speakers. They work GREAT for about a year. Then the left one stops working or becomes incredibly quiet. You can either hack into the thing and start replacing capacitors with your soldering iron...or you can save yourself the trouble and buy different speakers. After 2 years, my right one died. Now I have unattractive bookends.
Summary: dont buy this speaker i just used a couple of times and know the dont want to do anything, this is a way to steal your money, it stop working after 3 moths, and i barely used for like 6 ocasions.
Summary: These monitors were broken upon arrival. I did not get to try them a single. Packed up immediately and sent back. Maybe they would've worked great had they even turned on but i guess I'll never know.
Summary: Bought these to use at the office, and when they worked, they worked well - clear, full sound, space-efficient, the kind of speakers that excel at not being noticed (that's a good thing). Used mostly for background music and listening to recordings of court proceedings, occasionally cranking for after-hours marathon sessions. A few weeks after the warranty ran, the left (main; contains the amplifier) speaker started failing.
Summary: I bought this item from another highly reputable dealer, but felt it a duty to write about it on Amazon so future buyers may beware. The first six months it sounded quite good. I must add I am not a connoisseur of music or sound, but am also not a blissfully unaware bumpkin. The bass was a bit heavy, but the over all effect was pleasing. Then a hiss began to develop. Next thing, the left speaker with the volume control went silent.
Summary: Count me in with the rest of the bunch. Sounded good while it lasted. 3 years after i got them they will go in the trash. Sad really, how a company can get away with this and do nothing about it. Up until it failed i would have been a loyal customer, now I will tell anyone looking for speakers to stay away from this brand. They don't care about their customers, or about the quality of their product. Someone needs to sue them.
Summary: The speakers were okay initially, not thrilling clarity, but okay. But then, after about 18 months, the left speaker stopped working. As has been noted in other reviews, and is true for most electronics these days, not worth getting fixed. So off the the landfill with them. The left speaker (the one containing the amplifier) dieing seems to be a common complaint, and yet M-Audio has no solution. Don't buy these speakers.
