Buyer Beware: No Refunds From Manufacturer or Amazon
1 November 2013
Summary: I am very disappointed with both Amazon and Logitech. I bought the Z906 Surround Sound Speaker System as a present for my boyfriend on Monday, received the product on Tuesday, and he set it up on Wednesday. Right away, one of the prongs in the DB-15 Connector (can be seen in the product image: back side of product, blue area labeled "console") was bent, rendering the product completely useless since it would not turn on.
Summary: Its very fiddly and I have to reset it 75% of the time before I can get it to work. It also malfunctions when I leave it on for about 10 hours. Today that's not even working. Logitech need to work on quality control this is the third expensive product I've bought from them that failed in less than a year. The first in less than a month. I won't by from them again.
Summary: I was very shocked that after using for less than 3 months, the rear and center speakers stopped working. At first I thought it was my sound card, so I tried another computer, and an iPhone and I found out the speakers were indeed broken. I contacted Logitech, which has excellent customer service and they are going to replace my speakers. Ignoring that issue, in comparison to my old computer speakers, which was the Klipsch ProMedia 5.1, I am not impressed.
Summary: I installed these speakers and spent over 1 hour on the phone with tech support. Speakers would not work only made weird sounds. The tech said to return them so I am in the process of doing that.
Summary: and here's the final result: ZERO stars. i spent 2 days hooking this up; bought overpriced stands (the satellites don't work with keyhole stands). wired everything carefully. then discovered my samsung tv would NOT pass 5.1 audio thru it's optical cable. so, for three days, used the system in stereo with it's "3D audio" effect. then, my monoprice hdmi switcher came. hooked up to that; it passes hdmi to the tv, and audio optically to the z906. STILL no surround sound.
Summary: Bought this product twice and returned both. The center and the two front satellites produced annoying static noise when the volume knob was over 50%. Tried different cables (RCA and 3.5mm) from different brands, different sound sources, even used noise filtering cables and tried plugging into different outlets, none worked.
Summary: The speakers were set up, they were used twice before they started to burn. The subwoofer turned pretty much into a smoke machine, the speakers were inmediately unplugged but it kept shooting out smoke for about 5 minutes. DO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCTS FROM LOGITECH, their customer service stinks, they never even apologized, it took them almost two months to reply to me, and their refund will take up to 6 weeks. If you are going to buy speakers go with another brand.
Logitech DOWNGRADED the subwoofer to only 8" & NO Speaker Stands
27 August 2011
Summary: I noticed that Logitech has DOWNGRADED the subwoofer in the new Z906 to only 8". That is the same size as the sub from the Z680 from 3 generations ago. What are they doing, trying to pull an Apple? (Apple removed backlit keys and then re-added them and called them a new feature!) The original Z-5500 subwoofer was a deep sounding 10" subwoofer! Logitech also CONVENIENTLY omits this detail in their specifications page.
Poor quality, plagued by issues, avoid at all costs
I. Keppen, Amazon
5 August 2011
Summary: I don't like to leave negative reviews, but when I spend this much money on a PC sound system I expect quality. I saw the MANY negative reviews about the system locking up and decided to try my luck anyways. I wish I would have listened to that little voice in my head and stayed away. Sure enough after I got the system all unpacked and set up, it started failing hours into use. iTunes songs would lock up a few minutes in, sound would cut out on my PC games.
