Summary: First of all. I am an EDM (Electronic Dance Music) fan. My music is all about untz untz untz... and more untz. I bought the Bose Companion 2 Series III from BestBuy and Z553 on amazon. I compared both products side by side. Bose didn't "wow" me. You cannot adjust the bass on the Companion 2, it has no subwoofer. The bass wasn't good at all. Z533 was pretty amazing. I paid $64.99. Bose was $99.99. Some people buy the product because its name. I spend money on the quality.
Summary: It seems the age of computer speakers is past, at least compared to their heyday around the turn of the millennium. Compared to the glut of choices with quality, features and speaker configuration from then...our choices seem pretty limited. It's nice to find that Logitech is still an excellent choice, though. I still use my old Logitech Z-5500 for my home theatre setup, and they still shake the room.
Summary: Judging by many reviews I read around the web, it seems like either some users had some unreal expectations about this product, or they have never owned PC speakers before. These speakers sound really good, especially considering the price point. Granted, I mostly use them to play videogames and maybe the ocassional song here and there, but they're worth the money in my opinion.
Summary: For $50 these things were the cats meow. I got these for myself after I saw they were marked down to $50. I needed a new set to replace my Logitech z230s They are very ample in sound - it's no Klipsch, but I can deal with it for $50. Best speaker I could find for this price range. You won't be unpleased. If you don't mind people coming around to your desk asking what you are planning to blow up - because these things look like a space monster gun or something out of MIB.
Summary: The speakers have a great sound, and I love the separate volume toggle and all of the input options. Also the fact that I can use a different set of speakers via RCA is a huge plus. The only downside with my particular item is that the left satellite speaker will droop when tilted at any angle to flat in a matter of a few hours. The other satellite is fine and doesn't move on it's own. I managed to fix this by wedging a small piece of paper in the pivot point.
Summary: I purchased these to use with my entertainment center in my living room rather than computer speakers. They easily fill the room with clear, full sound. I was not happy with the sound from my Samsung 5.1 home theater in a box system because you would get really loud action scenes and very quiet dialog during movies. These Logitech speakers are much more even in presenting movie audio tracks. The build quality was actually quite surprising to me.
Summary: Love these. These are awesome for a home/gaming PC. Seems a lot of people wanted to hook these up as home theater speakers -- they're just not enough to fill a room as large as our living room. They're fantastic for a gaming machine, though. They have no problem filling all 3000sq ft of our home with music if you open the doors and turn it all the way up. It's not a home theater system, but it's enough if you're just cleaning and want some background noise.
