Summary: If you're looking for great sound out of computer speakers without a subwoofer, seriously consider the Logitech Z520 speakers. The Z520s produce solid, crisp audio in most rooms except for large ones. The sound is very pleasing. The speakers are heavy at 2-1/2 pounds each. Just one volume control to deal with. As good as the sound is, there are some drawbacks. There is no subwoofer with this system.
Summary: These speakers are now sitting on my main desktop replacing a pair of Creative T10's which are now being used on a laptop. Setting them up was extremely easy. The midrange & treble were impressive straight out of the box. The bass, although there, was somewhat anemic & reduced in volume. I initially attributed this to the acoustic suspension design (a bit unusual in a speaker of this size) of these speakers.
Pros: Attractive, Compact Design, Easy To Use, Great Sound Quality, Smooth Operation
Summary: I bought these and they sounded great while they lasted, although I never turned them up to max (I turned them up about half way and could hear them throughout my house which was plenty). It was also nice using them as a mini-amp for my headphones. They looked sleek, but they had a cover that I wasn't sure how to remove without breaking so I left it on. The 360 degree sound seemed to work decent, but I never placed them anywhere other than the wall.
Summary: The Z520 is an enjoyable step up from a previously owned Logitech system. Better design and sound. Not a big enthusiast of bass, so I like the balance of this system. A previously owned Logitech system(the 333)? was okay until the volume control failed. Technical failures due to a switch that render perfectly good speakers useless is unacceptable. The Z520 speakers have a larger base to provide placement stability, but also fit nicely in tight spaces.
Summary: Everything about this speaker is great, except for its speaker-to-computer wire. It's not extremely durable. This is especially likely to be a problem if you use this with your laptop, and need to constantly plug in and take out the wire because you are taking the laptop elsewhere. The plug gets bent overtime, and the connection starts to break down.
Summary: Bought this product to play along to when practicing saxophone in the UK when I return from abroad. Was immediately impressed by reasonable price, good weight and strong enough sound, with addition of iPod amp to be able to hear music while playing sax. Need I say more? Buy it and you should be disappointed. 4 because I wanted it even louder, but for the price.......
