Summary: I borrowed a friend's Z205 speakers for about 6 weeks, and after I realized that they actually clipped on to the laptop, very much enjoyed them. Alas, he asked me to return them, and I went back to the ping-y wonderland of standard laptop speakers. I purchased this product simply due to pricing. It didn't make much sense to me to spend $36 on the 205s when I could get the z305 for a mere $8 more.
Summary: The Logitech USB Laptop speaker Z305 is a great portable sound system with good sound quality. The more I use it the more I like it. This is only because I have discovered a few things that are not advertised and not in the descriptive documentation. At first I had trouble getting any sound out of this product at all. It is advertised as plug (into the USB) and play. Not quite - at least not on my MacBook.
Summary: Just recently bought both the Z305 and Z205. The 305 has a little better bass, but the speakers face outward, directing the sound away from you. The 205 faces toward you as you work on your laptop and is much clearer. I prefer the 205 and they are a little less money.
Summary: I am puzzled and confused by the Amazon reviews, which I have come to trust on most products. This product is clearly better than my Gateway laptop speakers but in no way should be considered good sound. It plays louder, true, but has NO bass and the upper highs are not crisp. It has the distinctive tin can sound of cheap speakers. Maybe my expectations were too high but I expected more from Logitech.
Summary: Not much of a rave: "It's okay." For fifty bucks, I expected more, especially with the descriptions Logitech has on Amazon's page: "360-degree room filling sound" this does not have (and I haven't used it in a particularly large room). It sounds like the speaker is behind the laptop, and I'm not sure what size room Logitech might be referring to. The bathroom in an airplane perhaps?
Summary: I wanted to improve my toshiba`s sound while i have it away from its home connected to my hi-fi system. Having read a few of the reviews on this speaker it kind of sold it to me.I only have it about a week now and have used it a couple of times, and while the sound is an improvment over the laptop speakers the issue i have with them is that when they are in use it over rides the laptop speakers and they dont run along side the add on`s.I had a quick look to see if i could...
Excerpt: Straightforward install, incredibly handy Brief cable, ok sound It will sound superior than your laptop speakers. But the cable must be 3" longer; I have a 17" laptop with the USB inputs near the front and it is barely long sufficient. Why they created it THIS brief I have no concept. The sound is ok, but for the funds is reasonable. If you do not have a wide bezel, do not get this or the clips will be on the screen.
Summary: This product is fine if you are just looking to listen to music by yourself. It is well made, simple to operate and, unlike previous Logitech laptop speakers, uses the laptop's power via the USB cable, so doesn't need batteries. The sound quality is also good. However, I bought these speakers as an update on my previous Logitech laptop speakers that I use to deliver audio to a group.
Excerpt: I seriously like how it hides itself behind the monitor. The click seems perfectly stable. The one cord for power/sound USB is great. The sound is fairly loud. The sound is a little low-cost sounding. Not too bad, well worth the cheap price, and with the cool style, I'm satisfied. I wish I didn't notice the hollow plastic sound though. I've grown used to it. I'd look for a superior excellent 1 of the same style next time.
