Excerpt: My laptop is my home away from home. It serves as everything from office to stereo to audio game centre. Being totally blind, I truly care about how things sound. Sadly, as far as laptop designers are concerned, sound is at best an ill-considered afterthought. That may well be fine for many poor souls afflicted with the curse of lumination dependence who consider anything short of nearby gunshots to be beneath their notice.
Pros: Portable, rugged, and doesn't take up lap desk space, Good bass, considering the size, Only one cable for both power and sound input, Doesn't put too much of a demand on your laptop's battery, Good for travel
Cons: Doesn't work well when directional sound cues are important
Summary: The Logitech Z305 is an unobtrusive solution if you're sick of the tinny, enclosed sound from your laptop speakers but don't have room for a five-piece PC speaker set. We recommend this plug-and-play external audio device for its simplicity of operation, low cost, and convenience for use on the run.
Pros: Easy setup with USB plug-and-play access; textured sound quality relative to price and size; travel-friendly design; includes carrying case.
Cons: Short USB cord; small clip won't fit over thicker displays; lacks volume indicator.
Conclusion: For built-in laptop speaker replacements, the Z305 are like night-and-day when compared to using our laptop speakers during our testing. Once you get past the fact that these are not expensive home theater speakers or movie theater quality speakers, you will quickly become a fan of the Z305. They did not sound cheap, nor did they struggle in our testing any more than we expected.
Summary: The one-piece speaker offers great mids and highs, as well as clarity and detail. Although it lacks bass, it makes up in its convenience and versatility. At $59.99, it is a small price to pay for absolute immersion in music in or out of home.
Pros: Very well built, Great mids and highs, Superb soundstage, Easy installation and storage, 3.5mm jack for PMP use
Cons: May be a bit long for smaller laptops, Bass absent, Lightly veiled sound, Laptop cannot be fully closed when installed
Conclusion: Credit must at least be given to Logitech for ingenuity: a clamp-on, USB speaker bar for laptops is a great idea. While sharing a laptop for viewing movies runs into all kinds of problems (like those dire notebook screens Jarred, Vivek and I are only too fond of griping about), at least with the Z305 sound isn't going to be an issue. Actually, the funniest thing about the Z305 is the way it outclasses the pricier Z515.
Excerpt: Many laptops are plagued with speakers that can only produce tinny and unsatisfactory sounds. Many of us use our laptops to watch and listen to media - either stuff we've downloaded, ripped or streamed from services such as BBC iPlayer - so having under-powered speakers can leave a lot to be desired.
Conclusion: Logitechin lähestymistapa läppärin äänentoistoon poikkeaa täysin muusta ryhmästä.
