Summary: It was odd "reviewing" this... as it's a replacement part for a larger system, and thus it's sort of strange, trying to not review the top-level system along with the replacement component. So... let's do both.
Summary: My original control unit for a Z5500 speaker let it's smoke out a few months ago and was dead after about 5 years service. Since the speakers are no longer produced I expected that I would have a hard time finding a replacement control unit.
Summary: This would make a great system in the Den as well due to the fact that it also supports optical and digital coax input as well as pc speaker input. All in all, this package is a great purchase and is strongly recommended
Pros: This system sounds just as good as it looks, well made, nice looking and THX certified
Cons: I think that I have too much money invested in my home theatre equipment. I bought this system specifically to compete with my home theatre system. I wanted my PC games to sound just as good on my computer as my XBOX does on my home theatre. Unfortunately it seams like it is lacking in the bass t...
Summary: I have only heard movies sound better in a theater and ONE other home theater setup which cost the owner roughly $11,000 (this is not saying that this is the best system for <$11k). Harmon kardon and bose systems just do not stack up to this.
Pros: Very compact satellites, very good sound for movies and games. This is THX certified for a reason. It is not intended to be a music listening system. Very well balanced sound for movies and games and a great selection of audio modes.
Cons: Music requires adjustment for each song. I like the stereoX2 setting better than the PLII Music option for my environment, it can sound good, it just frequently doesnt compare to other speaker systems. The bass is boomy and muddy (sub is not in a corner and is set on carpet so the boominess is no...
Pros: Great subwoofer. Great satellites. Clarity. Everything you'd expect.
Cons: Having upgraded from a smaller sized subwoofer, the power is obviously far greater. The problem I have is that the subwoofer gets really great rumbles and deep bass, but there really isn't much mid-bass range. The satellites have crystal clear voice, but the peoples voices don't have the same dee...
Summary: This is the best speaker system for a PC that I have ever owned. It almost rivals my Onkyo home theater system. A must have for serious gamers.
Pros: Amazing clarity and punch. The sub is big and the system kicks very loud when you want it to.
Cons: To mounth the center channel the instructions said to remove the stand and flip it but the screw that holds the stand to the center channel was fused and the philips screw head was filled in with plastic...
