Summary: I bought these speakers a few years ago. They sound great. The bass is awesome. The price is right. I got them on Amazon for a great price. The only problem is that they didn't last very long. I called Logitech and they had me send them the control panel and sent me a whole new system. That one didn't last very long either. I think the control panel goes bad. I was too lazy to call Logitech the second time and didn't know if they would replace them again anyway.
Summary: I've only owned this system a couple of weeks but have had an awful time getting tech support from Logitech. System works fine with regular hookup but unable to get the Optical hookup to work. When I did reach Logitech they concluded the Control Pod is bad and that I would have to return mine before they will send me another. Overall great sound but speaker mounts could be better designed.
Pros: Easy Hook Up, Great Sound Quality
Cons: Customer Service Poor, Difficult to wall mount, Optical Hookup Problem
Summary: I just got my Z5500 speakers about a week ago, and here are my first impressions... Sound: Overall, for the price, the sound is good. Like other reviews have said, the midrange is weak, and they are not the best speakers for listening to music. Movies sound great so far. I've watched both Fellowship of the Ring DVD up-converted on a Blu-Ray player, and Batman Begins blu-ray, both sounded wonderful.
Pros: The sound was better than I thoguht for a "pc speaker". We got one for the office n now im reconcidering my plans to get a yamaha amp and a jbl sub for home. Worked well as a HT alternative with a projector.
Cons: Expensive. Almost an overkill for a pc with small monitor. Scary warning about EMP type destructive power from the sub (***?) The cable from sub to controller could be longer and thinner (or it could selfdestruct itself!!).
"There is a noticable gap between the sub and midrange"

Pros: I really wanted to like these speakers. The features were great and I loved the remote. It had pretty much everything I wanted digit inputs, 2 channel music to 4 speakers, clean sound.
Cons: There is a noticable drop in the frequency range just above the sub range which is rediculous for the kind of money. The sub could go deeper too. I am much happier with my Klipsch Pro-media though I miss the features.
