Logitech Z-5450 5.1 Wireless Speakers

Tech2
23 August 2007
  • Excerpt: Those who follow PC speakers closely would surely know about Logitech’s Z-5500 speakers and how much everyone loves them. They are indeed one of the best 5.1 PC speakers we have come across. The Z-5450, the one we are reviewing, are a slightly less powerful version of the Z-5500. What sets the Z-5450 apart from its predecessors are its rear wireless satellites. Let’s see if they sound as good as they look.

  • Conclusion: The biggest reason to buy the Logitech Z-5450 Digital instead of Logitech's more powerful, less expensive Z-5500 is the Z-5450's pair of nifty wireless surround satellites.
  • Pros: Wireless Surround speakers. Flexible input options. Cordless remote. Integrated multichannel decoders. Easy wall-mounting.
  • Cons: Idiosyncratic frequency response. Mounting satellites on stands is tricky. Pricey.

Logitech Z-5450 Digital Multimedia Speaker System Review

Audioholics
30 May 2006
  • Summary: The Logitech Z-5450 Digital system sounds great right out of the box. You will find yourself completely immersed in games such as Ghost Recon when using the Dolby Pro Logic II: Movie mode. You will jerk your head around when you hear a twig snap behind you as you sneak around a wooded encampment. Voices of the enemy in the distance will cause your heart to pound as you try to get close enough for a clear shot.
  • Pros: Can handle a computer, a gaming system, and even has an extra input for a CD/DVD player, Includes a THX-certified DD/DTS controller (with Dolby Pro Logic II & DTS 96/24), Very loud and clean playback of 5.1 sources
  • Cons: Subwoofer becomes muddy as volume level increases when listening to music, Stereo sound quality becomes harsh at high volume levels, Boring styling

  • Conclusion: While not totally free to place, the wireless rears give you some flexibility. The rest of the set sounds great and offers great sound that's consistant with Logitech's high end line.
