Solid speakers for cramped spaces

1 January 2005
  • Summary: If you're fed up with your cheapo two-piece desktop speakers but can't afford the latest 7.1 set, Logitech's Z-2200 brings THX-certified sound to your PC or game console at an affordable price.
  • Pros: Crisp sound in mid and high ranges; wired remote with headphone jack; affordable.
  • Cons: Hardwired satellite speakers.

Expert Review

PenStar Systems, LLC.

  • Summary: After listening to the original Z-560 set of speakers, I was very impressed by what Logitech could do with their audio products.  I had very high expectations for the Z-2200’s when they hit my door, and they reached nearly every one of those expectations.  The only weakness is the soundstage imaging in music, but as long as a listener is in the sweet spot, the soundstage is actually fairly expansive.
  • Pros: Powerful bass, Outstanding sound reproduction, Neutral sounding speakers, Excellent loudness, No pops, cracks, or huffs, Useful remote, Very low price for the quality/sound, Removable grilles, Attractive appearance, THX Certification
  • Cons: No treble adjustment, No digital input

Logitech Z-2200 Speakers

Hardware Pacers
22 December 2003
  • Excerpt: The Logitech Z-2200 are outstanding speakers that present THX certification, booming bass and a clear rich sound. They are only 2.1, however, they produce superior sound than the Logitech Z-640 speakers that we have reviewed. The Logitech Z-2200 demonstrate the power of 200-watt speakers, with two heavy 80-watt satellites and a humongous 120-watt subwoofer. The Logitech Z-2200 is a great purchase any time someone would like to enjoy great bass.
  • Pros: Total Peak Power is 400w, Clear Sound, THX Certified, Arrives with Wired Remote Control, Pedestals rotate easily for wall mounting or desk placement.
  • Cons: Expensive (Only 50 US dollars lower than Z-5200)
