Summary: As the title states, the speakers were defective upon arrival. They were tested on multiple outlets to be sure that it wasn't a power issue, and the product will be returned shortly. The review may be updated depending on how the product will behave once I get a replacement.
Summary: I don't have "golden ears", so I can't guess where the low-frequency output cuts off, but it's a surprisingly high floor. For comparison: I own Logitech Z-5 speakers with just the juice they can pull off a USB 2 port--very little--and of course whatever's left over after the onboard USB audio takes its cut.
Summary: These speakers looked good from the outside, nice large speakers. From the second i plugged in the speakers and turned them on there was a loud annoying buzz emitting from the speakers, predominately from the speaker with the power cord connected to it. Then i noticed music coming from them at a very low level and there was no sound coming from my computer. The speakers were picking up interference. These speakers are being returned immediately.
Summary: Please be aware...these speakers have an integrated power supply that is very susceptible to outside interference. I heard a constant buzz/hum from the left speaker (where the power supply is located) whenever the speakers were turned on. However, by looking at some of these other reviews, it does seem that others had a positive experience with the X-140s. So who knows...maybe I just got a lemon.
Summary: It seems I am yet another person who has been sent the US version in the UK, the 2 pin plug and 120v is a bit of a give away. Not very happy, as I understand it is illegal to sell items without the correct plug in the UK, and also it is a potential fire hazard as if I had plugged in it with a travel adaptor they may have blown. Be warned if you are purchasing these in the UK you may not get the correct model (a replacement is not available only a refund.
Summary: The first thing that I noticed was that the item did not have a UK electrical plug. My understanding is that it is illegal to sell electrical appliances without the appropriate national plug. I changed it over for a normal UK three pin plug and tried to use it. No power was going to the appliance. I tired to use the Amazon returns process but it would not accept it as a return and a request for a replacement.
Summary: As other have said, these speakers arrived with the seal broken and the jack cable missing. The electric plug was not meant for the UK, it was a two pin plug meant for the USA and the rating on the speakers stated 120V. So they are going straight back. Why sell them in the UK for the UK market if they aren't appropriate? Most annoying, I hope I get my full refund ASAP. If I could pick zero stars I would.
