Summary: After spending a long time on a desktop with a top of the line sound system (audigy 2ZS sound card and klipsch speakers), I was spoiled. And when I got myself a laptop, I was utterly horrified by the wimpy sound coming from it's speakers. I picked these up, and am suddenly spoiled again.
Summary: I inititally went out and got the Bose Companion 2 series II for my laptop that had seriously underpowered, embarassing speakers. But the sound came out as boomy and though the speakers did sound good I wasnt that impressed.
I never write reviews but I HAD TO for these AMAZING SPEAKERS! I've had them OVER a year!
22 April 2008
Summary: <<< Update: I've had these speakers since April 2008 and I have had NOT one (yes, not one!) single problem! I also noticed some people writing that the speakers move or travel! Hello?! ADJUST THE BASS IN THE VOLUME SETTINGS!! You can adjust the bass to half or as you like and even to zero!
Summary: I doubt you could get a much better sound for $50. The quality is significantly better than the internal speakers of my laptop. To eliminate feedback from vibration, you just need to place something absorbent underneath the speakers (such as an old mouse pad).
Summary: these seriously are great speakers for the $...they are not ridiculously loud, but I bought them to provide nice background music for the house---they are very clear and loud enough for our purpose.
Summary: The carrying case is hard-shelled - 10/5" x 7.5" x 2". Very nice, not cheap. Speakers are 6.5" tall, 3" wide and 1.5" deep. I found the cord to be plenty long; 36" cord between speakers, 22" cord from right speaker to USB port. The buttons do take getting used to - absolutely no tactile feedback.
Summary: Bought these for my daughter when she was leaving for college. I finally got to hear them and was truly imprest. Even the case they come in is well constructed for traveling to and from college. Now I want a pair for myself!!
Summary: I wasn't happy with my Sony Vaio's internal speakers and was looking for small notebook speakers. These fit the bill perfectly. Easy to setup. Controls are simple to use. I'm not a sound guru but I think these will work fine for most people.
Summary: I travel frequently, and carry a netbook with me everywhere I go. I hate the sound of the built-in speakers in laptops and netbooks and resorted to listening to music using earphones. However, being tied down with earphones or headphones while relaxing in a hotel room proved to be very inconvenient.
