Summary: Purchased through Amazon for $40, though I see that they are up to around $55 now. They are certainly a step up in both sound quality and volume to built-in notebook speakers, and I like not having to plug in another bulky ac adapter into my already crowded power strip. The included case is a nice feature as well. Don't expect stellar sound reproduction here though. Obviously low end frequencies suffer the most with such small speakers.
Summary: I like the sound of the speakers, but they vibrate all over the place. Need to find a rubber mat to put under the speakers to settle them down. The search begins! I found simple cloth pads do the trick.
Summary: I am satisfied overall with the sound quality. I like the USB connection, and the good news is that no need for batteries and no power cord! This is a plus when you want to buy a portable speaker set. The speakers have the tendency to bounce and move on my desk. The cord connecting the two speakers is a bit short but you can live with it.
Summary: So far I've been underwhelmed by the product, but I'm not at all sure it's because of the product or my laptop. After listening to a variety of small portable iPod speakers in the Apple store, I expected a similar result from this unit but did not find that to be true. Also, I get a bit of popping and noise from the USB supplied audio, and I've read in other reviews that this can be a problem with laptop computers and USB sound.
Summary: I bought a pair of these at the airport to take on holiday with me. The guy at the store demonstrated them to me and although it took a couple of minutes to install they seemed easy enough to set up and had a decent sound for their size. The buttons were a little fiddly and didn't work at first but that didn't bother me. When I arrived at my destination I installed them easily and the buttons worked.
Summary: Most of the comments on here seem to be correct. They are neat speakers & sound pretty good. However, I bought these in October 2007 and in January 2009 (after minimal usage) they just stopped working. One minute fine, the next nothing. The buttons on the top still pause, play, etc, but no sound at all. I checked all the computer settings and tried them on another computer - nothing.
Summary: I bought a pair of these wanting something to watch my DVDs through. The sound is ok but not as loud as I'd have liked it. And then after just over a year they stopped working. I didn't even move them around very much. So I really wouldn't recommend something with such a short shelf life at this price.
Summary: These are ok speakers. I would say that if you need some background music (although music deserves better than to be in the background) or if you need to watch a dvd with better quality than the majority of laptop speakers can manage then these will suffice. I note in a review that one person said they go really loud. Hmm.......they don't!!
