Summary: Bought these several years ago and I've had trouble with them from the start. When they work they're fine and much better than my laptop speakers, but I often have trouble making them work on my computer, even if I go into SOUNDS and change the OUTPUT to the Logitech speakers (which should happen automatically, I think).
Summary: I used these speakers on Windows XP and they worked and sounded great. On Vista, they simply would not detect. On 7, they detect but no sound comes from the speakers. Other reviews on the 'net point to the same issues. If you are on XP, go ahead and buy these nice-sounding speakers. Otherwise, beware, they likely will not be compatible.
Summary: So, the sound: good to very good for the size. Not disappointed, in any event with that. USB convenient, especially since no power cord needed. OK, now, the real problem, and it's serious! These speakers are just not built well, certainly not for being portable. They have little kickstands, which is helpful. But one broke almost immediately, making it a pain to use. Very, very flimsy. Inexcusable, I'd say.
Summary: Had to send them back to logitech. half the time windows did not recognize the device, does not work with itunes (even the latest version), and the volume and mute controls never worked. Too bad because the sound and portability are great.
Summary: I did a lot of research out here prior to ordering these speakers and most everyone had a favorable review. I purchased them in May with no problems and they worked great with my Dell laptop. In late July they quit producing sound...it appears they are working on my control panel but no sound comes from the speakers anymore and the mute button is not on. Unfortunately I am past my month return date so I am stuck with $50 speakers that don't work anymore.
Summary: I returned these speakers a day after receiving them. The speakers are much larger than what I expected for a product called a notebook speaker. They are even larger than my desktop speakers! After further research, I have found that there are plenty of smaller notebook speakers on the market. If you are looking for portability in your laptop speakers, look elsewhere. The included carrying case feels like it is made from quality material.
Summary: For the price I expected more. However, they are supposed to sound better than a typical laptop's speakers, and they accomplish that goal. The USB connectivity is nice, and its exactly where all your money is apparently going with the $50 price tag. They can't handle loud music at all and sound more like $10 speakers. Plus the volume control being two small buttons instead of a dial is annoying. But I will probably keep them since I had a rebate to lower the price.
Summary: The sound quaity from these speakers is not good, they sound boxy, with very little bass or treble. In fact they sound like my laptop speakers only louder. They are described as having a "rich, full sound and deep bass". That is just wrong. Perhaps I expect too much from USB speakers, these are the only ones I've tried.
