Summary: Shouldn't say "tendency" when I mean "guaranteed" to distort. Turning the volume knob over 50% is a guaranteed bit of distortion. Are they acceptable speakers if you really don't need to hear much from your pc or any other source, sure. Are they acceptable for regular use? Nope. They were decent, almost good, for a few weeks, but that sound quality dropped with continuous use until one pair completely crapped out after a couple years (probably a short in the wiring and...
Summary: They were nice enough for the price until they started making awful scratching noises. I use them at work and don't dare turn them on now. Rather, I occasionally use the audio jack to plug in my headphones (it is closer than the computer jack)... but even that can be really difficult to use because it doesn't seem to be a perfect fit. Honestly, these things suck. The only reason they get 2 stars is for aesthetics (which I personally find important).
Summary: Logitech makes some pretty cool products, with interesting design specs, but these speakers are probably on the low-end in every way. Average sound quality and cheap materials made want to return these immediately. To top it off, they only output mono sound, even though the output sources were all stereo. Very disappointing. I'll buy Logitech mice in the future, but never speakers.
Summary: Seldom do I go out of my way to review a product. In the case of these particular speakers, I felt the need to talk about the poor function. While they do sound good and function great in the early stages of their product life cycle, the power supply tends to fade and eventually fails. I've owned two sets now, and regretfully, the only thing I've learned is to not buy these speakers - the power supply will fail.
Summary: I never paid attention to the reviews about the speaker dying after 4 months. I should have, because after two months of great sound, my speakers completely went dead. So I need to go and find and buy speakers again since the current one's have passed the warranty. Not worth the 20 bucks thrown out the window.
Summary: These speakers worked great from Feb-Oct. At that time, they crashed and sound totally distorted in all but the lowest volume. I do not use them often or loud. Mostly website audio. Loved them at first, now useless. I am attempting to use the 2-year warranty.
Summary: I actually bought these from the store, but experienced the same thing all the other negative reviewers experienced. The light started flickering and the sound is distorted, can't turn the volume up past about 15% without it messing up. I know they aren't expensive speakers, so I shouldn't expect spectacular quality--however, I did expect them to last longer than 6 months! Cheaply made, poor quality. I did call Logitech and reported my problem.
Summary: These speakers arent much smaller than typical computer desktop speakers, but their sound is. I am not impressed by the sound quality at all, however, the speakers take up enough space that they should be making much better sound. I guess you get what you pay for. On the plus side, I like how the volume knob is large and turns them on and off without a separate control. Also the front aux input is a decent feature (but probably wont be used for most people).
