Summary: While it lacks the apps and the speakerphone function found in the Jawbone Jambox, the Rocksteady XS delivers excellent sound, lasts a long time on a charge, and costs $30 less. Those looking for an unobtrusive yet powerful and portable Bluetooth speaker will find a lot to like in the Rocksteady XS.
Pros: Superb audio quality, Compact travel-friendly design, Very long battery life, USB port on board
Excerpt: The Good Loud, reasonably clear sound - Compact, lightweight, durable - Replaceable 10-hour battery - Low price The Bad Sound distorts slightly at high volumes - No bass punch - Relatively plain design - Battery compartment could leave speaker vulnerable to liquids - Short charging cable - Long charging times Headphones and portable speakers are, for my money, still the best uses of Bluetooth, at least when it comes to audio.
Rocksteady XS portable Bluetooth 3.0 speaker – Review
14 February 2013
Excerpt: has two side-firing speakers and one top speaker port that are heavy on the midrange and treble and are light on the bass. Bluetooth 3.0 wireless setup and transmission from iPhone or other portable player is instantaneous, the best we’ve experienced. Typical 20 to 30 foot broadcast range is achieved, depending upon walls and other obstructions between player and speaker.
Conclusion: With an asking price of $129.99, it’s neither the cheapest nor the most expensive option, but expect to find offers well below that once availability increases. Currently the RocksteadyXS is only available at a few online stores, up-to-date information can be found on the www.KillerC.com website.
Pros: Easy to set-up, Lightweight, Robust, Loud, Clear sound with speech
Cons: Not that sexy, Sound can be tinny in some situations
