Summary: Got these because my pretty excellent ten-year-old old Cambridge Soundwork speakers didn't like my new Mac -- they suddenly buzzed when not in use, five or so seconds after the music or video sound stopped. Tried grounding them, then LIFTING the ground with a two-prong adapter plug, plugging them into a different outlet, using a UPS; no dice. The JBL Creatures were cheaper than a decent noise eliminator like the Hum X, so I decided to give them a shot.
Summary: these speakers look amazing and sound clear as a bell, ive heard things in songs ive never heard before with these speakers, but if you want to blast music these speakers are not for you, they start distorting a whole lot when you turn it up
Summary: Overall this system has been rated pretty high on Amazon so it's not going to be easy to dissuade you from buying them. You really cant go wrong for the price. For 50 bucks they are very good buy. I paid over 100 for them at compusa. My gripe with the system is that there is no mid range at all. Not surprising since they only come with 2 tweeters and a sub, thus no midrange. The bass also sounds muddy to me and the tweeters are a bit to shrill for my taste.
Summary: I don't know where the guys with the negative reviews got the small sound from, I seen these at a local mom and pop shop and it was blastin out X-Men III with the quality of a home theater system. I was hooked, just glad I saw them here since they are about 20 bucks cheaper :) If you have a good tricked out rig for gaming these speakers are the bomb! I never turned my old speakers off so the power switch where it is isnt a problem for me.
Summary: Although these speakers are truly amazing, the "touch" response on the sattlelite speakers gets stuck and usually not the volume you want/need. No way to fix it, just one of the drawbacks of a less expensive but great sounding speaker system for your Port. DVD or MP3 players.
Excerpt: "**What Is It?** The JBL mulitmedia speaker system "woofers" are a speaker set. It comes with the big sub-woofer and 2 smaller satelite speakers. **What is It Compatible With?** It says in the title PC multimedia, but i just plugged it onto my Mac G5 and it worked fantastically! That is a bit misleading as it can work with basically any mulitimedia appliance. It works with all Macs and PC's but it also even works with Laptops, porartable DVD ...
Excerpt: "...price. Even compared to earlier JBL models, the sound quality from these speakers is disappointing at best. The sub woofer can hold its own, perhaps a little too well competing with the satellites which it often overpowers. It is the tweeters that really let down the system. Too strong on the high end, they produce a strikingly tinny sound, while the system's entire midrange generally feels unbalanced. Priced at around £50 these are budget speakers ...
