Summary: I spent a great portion of my working years (I'm retired now) in the audio business and I amazed at how great these Hercules XPS 2.0 60's sound. I hooked them up to my LCD TV using the TV's "headphone out" mini plug into the mini plug input in the speaker. That way I can turn the speakers on about two-thirds of the way up and then use my TV's remote control to totally control the volume.
Summary: unbeatable natural sound at this price point, compared to Maudio & Alesis... I have three pairs of these and they all work great. My advice to those having issues is to leave them powered "ON" at all times. Low cost monitors seem to acquire damage much more quickly when they are powered on & off frequently.
Summary: Do NOT BUY this speaker set! It is a Hercules product which should be of good quality. But that is only in theory, not in reality. The sound was awful and it kept giving out in the right speaker. All in all producing a bass heavy sound lacking in the midrange and highs. And that one is the 'active' or powered speaker, so imagine it is supposed to be the more powerful and efficient speaker of the two. Instead we see just how bad a poorly made audio product can be.
Summary: Firstly, I'm not an audiofile but I have evaluated a lot of speakers and headphnoes. These speakers are incredible and I'm extremely impressed with what I got for the money. I bought these and a pair of Klipsch with Sub and I thought the Klipsch sounded awesome until I did a direct comparison. The Hercules speakers were a clear winner. They don't have a sub but they don't need one because they generate rich bass that is not over powering like the Klipsch.
Summary: I was very excited to use these computer speakers as they had everything I was interested in: 1) great price, 2) 2.0 speaker system (2.0 do *NOT* come with a floor subwoofer, 2.1 systems do and I do not want a subwoofer), 3) various, easily reached knob controls, 4) good power output 30W RMS (15x2), 5) they look pleasant. I did read that others had problems with the left speaking not working properly or at all. Well...after about 4 months my left speaker almost died.
Summary: Hooked the speakers up and was immediately impressed with rich full sound. Then, almost as immediately, my pleasure was disrupted by by the main speaker cutting in and out intermittently. Have now been fiddling with the connections for over 10 months without any permanent solution to problem. Also, mp3 player only plays through one speaker period. No amount of fiddling with wires even temporarily corrects this, seems to be by design.
Summary: These speakers were ordered this summer to have a nicer substitute for my laptop speakers at school. I played music frequently through them, but never at or near max volume. I'll tell you how they work. Initial Quality: Impressions were very good. For 2.0 speakers the bass was fairly impressive and the sound was very tight and clear. They have some weight to them, and they are very solidly put together.
Summary: I give this speaker one star because the sound quility are really bad. the bass is very messy and the mid range are very unclear, the high range is bad too. I bought this due to its nice look, but without sound, it worth nothing, I am not sure why so many people say its sound are clear and craspy. I also have a JBL Duet2 PC speaker which cost me only $50, this Hercules speakers has no comparation with the JBL Duet2, the JBL sound is so nice and clear, bass is good too.
Summary: These speakers worked fine for almost a year and then stopped working. I have been waiting over a month for a part that may fix this but I have my doubts. I used the headphone jack a bit and think that is the cause as the headphones still work but the main speakers don't. I have no confidence at all now in this companies customer service and will never buy another of their products.
