and here's what I don't like about it
20 November 2014
Summary: I have had these for slight over a year now, and here's what I don't like about it. 1. The connection between the left speaker and the cable is loose. I get fuzzy and noisy sounds coming from that side of the channel. I have to carefully place the cable (and then tape it to the table so it doesn't move) for the sound to come out normally. 2. The subwoofer volume knob on my sub is usually set to 50%.
Excerpt: It wasn't until a great amount of scouring the web had been done before I decided to fork over the money for these speakers and truly, I don't really have any regrets. The sound quality is suberb. The bass sometimes is not as smooth as I had hoped but I honestly am pretty sure that is due to the quality of the audio I am putting into them (these speakers are currently attached to my laptop).
Summary: Stellar sound for in-front-of-computer use. Truly a work of art. Presently contemporising my home and these are beautiful. Solid build and Museum of Modern History permanent display for design. Weak midrange but an app with equalizer helps. If you wish to fill a big room, buy a true amplified component system!
Summary: I've had my Soundsticks II for about 8 years now, and they finally gave in to old age a week ago, so I bought these. They are decidedly better than the II's (which were already the bomb) for a few reasons: The aux cable isn't hard wired into the subwoofer, so you can actually change it when it gets old and finicky; the speakers can be turned off by pressing in the subwoofer's dial, where in the old model you needed to hold down the lower volume sensor; the bases are now...
Summary: I owned the first generation of these SoundSticks and fell in love with music all over again. As a classical music aficionado, the pure energy of the bass, the clarity of the high strings really makes listening so much more enjoyable. Even my wife has started to appreciate the beauty of the classics!
Summary: A friend has a set, they sounded great. Bought the bluetooth version. They sound great. Highs are clear, sub is more than enough for my taste. And of course they look feel like a quality product. This is the 3rd time that Harman Kardon has come though for me.
Summary: I'm not very knowledgeable about what makes some speakers better than others, but I do like good sound and the HK Soundsticks have it. They sound best when I'm facing them (they are mounted on windowsills just behind my desk and sit abut five feet apart). They produce very clear sound and according to my wife they're way too loud. If I turn the volume up near maximum, I begin to get a little distortion.
Summary: I have been a Bose system fan for the longest time, gave away my Companion 3 and looking to upgrade to Companion 5. I saw the Soundsticks at an apple store and quite impressed with the modern looks so I read a lot of reviews before reluctantly ordering one. I am so amazed at this product and glad I ordered one for myself. A lot cheaper than other computer speakers out there this one has the bass and clarity I did not expect.
