  • Summary: These have proven to be a good buy. I like the fact they're housed in wood and not plastic. The sound is great and having separate bass and treble controls are worth it. Mine arrived sooner than expected and in excellent shape. I'm very happy with the speakers.

  • Summary: The speakers arrived at my house very timely and in perfect shape. I've only been using them about a week but the sound is great, very rich. Having separate bass and treble controls are worth it. They put out plenty of bass for me when I want it and the mids and highs are reproduced well. I have played them at full volume and noticed no distortion at all. The HF1800's put out the sound I want and didn't cost me a fortune.

Just awesome

Anonymous, Newegg
10 January 2015
  • Pros: Feels solid, produces great sound. I discovers that there's music that plays at greater than 320kbps and my headphones could keep up but my desktop speakers were a joke. This was a great buy.
  • Cons: Wish the knobs had more obvious level markers. It's hard to tell if how far you've turned it. No big deal though.

  • Summary: I needed some inexpensive speakers to hook up to a turntable, without an amplifier involved. These speakers are powered, meaning they have a built in amp if you will. They worked well for me for the purpose. If I had a complaint it would be that they aren't loud enough unless you crank the volume up to 11.

It's great if you accept it's limitations.

Christopher Smith "Jamaican", Amazon

  • Summary: These are a decent pair of speakers. They can get loud but you will get scared they'll get damaged and turn them down. They are bigger than I expected and doesn't push out as much bass as I had hoped (compared to a smaller pair of onkyo speakers I had acquired in japan). This coupled with my observation that the speakers are very directional making the ability to hear the stereo image of music difficult unless sitting directly in front of the speakers is why I have given...

Great speakers for price, until they fail.

Kyle W., Newegg

  • Pros: Good not great sound, nice heavy construction, look great on your desk
  • Cons: Left speaker will fail you over time. I've had these for around 4 years and today it finally stopped working. Reading other reviews it looks like I got lucky that they even lasted this long. Save your money and spend 200-300 for a quality set of powered speakers, You'll thank me in the long run.

  • Summary: These seem to be really good speakers for the price. They have a great sound and they will get loud if you turn them up and they also have bass and treble knobs so you can adjust them to suit your listening preferences.... They don't suit my needs though cause I bought them for my TV and you can't adjust the volume or mute them with the TV's volume....

Impressive sound belies their modest dimensions

J. B. Wiley, Amazon
25 December 2014
  • Summary: After using these for about 6 months, I will say that the sound they produce is much better than I would have believed possible. They do require a good sound card, and a bit of bass boost is also helpful. The low end (bass) is surprisingly clean and non-boomy. Individual bass notes are clearly defined, unlike some systems I have heard where any bass note, no matter which one, sounds the same as every other.
