Summary: This is definitely not a bad system. If this was my first set of speakers and subwoofer setup, it would be awesome. But it's not. I've had the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speaker. The Klipsch speakers are awesome and the sub will blow you away. The problem is these speaker/sub go out way to easy. At least it did for me. Anyways back to the Edifier M1380. The high and mids on the speakers are as good if not better than the $140 Klipsch speakers.
Summary: I was a little surprised by how small this actually is. For the size, it puts out pretty good sound, but the bass doesn't seem to be very clean, especially at lower frequencies. Since the bass isn't very clean, it takes some time to get the level just right in order to sound natural. Adding to that, the speakers themselves are mid-high range only, which I was aware of, but adds to the frustration of balancing between the sub and satellites.
Summary: There's no real bad points at 30 bucks, I mean if you were paying 60 or something then maybe, but at 30 bucks that price point for a 2.1 set you're getting more than your moneys worth.
Pros: -30 bucks, -solid build quality for that price, -Good rounded out sound for 2.1, -Sub level is adjustable
Cons: -No power button on the additional satellite volume/mute control between the speakers, which just means you have to reach down and flip off the sub to turn it off. This is really the only valid complaint for the entire thing to be honest.
