Ok but not for music
15 November 2014
Summary: Good value. Headphone jack and bass control (you'll need it). Good build quality ... 3 months and no problem. Performance might be good for movies and gaming but is terrible for music. I tested all kinds of formats and even CD quality required the bass sub to be dialed right down to zero then maybe turned up a smidgen. I was unable to get decent mid-range so you ended up with all highs and lows even mucking around with software EQ.
Summary: after spending a week with this, i think this is a good but not great speakers. the overall sound lacks details. maybe its just me but i think normal folks would notice its too bass heavy and not enough in the mid-tone and especially lacking in trebles.
Summary: The sound is good. It has an 8 inch subwoofer (advertised as 10 when I bought). It was broke around the base of one of the satellite speakers(may be a faulty spot). Does sound very good. But I have problems with the volume control. One of the satellite speakers turn on and off at low volumes. Its a matter of moving the volume control a little to fix. It doesn't cut off once it makes sound, only when Im adjusting it. Almost like bad electrical contacts.
Summary: I've been using Cyber Acoustics low end speakers for a few years. I just wanted speakers for a pc I put together myself, and they were clean although a bit tinny. I like to hear vocal and piano, and they get by. I just got this 3 piece set as an upgrade, and although the two peripheral speakers are a bit better than my original pair, the boom box kicks out bass even when I turn it off on the right speaker (which is the only control over it I have as my sound card has...
Summary: This speaker system is great for most users. It's very affordable and at normal volumes has very good sound quality. At higher volumes the sound gets distorted and more controls would have been nice. Overall it's a good system that most will be happy with.
Pros: Great price, good sound quality in general
Cons: Sound gets distorted at high volumes, no treble adjustment
Summary: OK, this was kind of an impulse buy. I've had a problem watching TV late at night because if I turn the TV up loud enough to understand voices, my wife can't sleep. I'd considered headphones (cordless), but ruled them out as I like to lie down to watch TV, and headphones would be uncomfortable. Then I thought about putting speakers in the headboard of my bed, on my side. That way, I could add volume on my side of the bed only. It worked, by the way.
