"$80-value speakers for $160"

bmpix, CNET
29 October 2011
  • Pros: Bass is nice for such small speakers.
  • Cons: But except bass everything else is horrible for such a price. Mid-range is damped (honestly, my cellphone does a similar job in the mid-range), high-frequencies are too bright, the bass is too saturated and the volume control for the bass doesn't affect t

"Highs too harsh"

CNET
31 March 2009
  • Pros: Easy to use, sound reasonably accurate with the treble turned all the way down
  • Cons: Too much sugary bright treble for my taste - have to turn the treble control all the way down to make these speakers sound more like my studio monitors

"Best PC speakers ever! (Series II)"

josh2212, CNET
27 December 2008
  • Pros: Crisp highs, clear mid range, powerfull bass, useful controls, compact size, not bad price (£63) from PC World, usefull grills to protect the speakers (I don't use them as they look much better without)
  • Cons: Not too bass-heavy (this isn't a real problem for me as it makes them sound clearer and more realistic)

"Probably the best 2.0 speakers around"

procxi, CNET
23 August 2008
  • Pros: Excellent sound clarity in all ranges, support frequencies as low as 50Hz, great build quality
  • Cons: So far – Bigger than most 2.0 speakers, on/off is behind the speaker, proprietary Creative docking station input

nice speakers, nice price, but VERY awkward on/off...

suefuhs, PriceGrabber
5 July 2008
  • Summary: I got these speakers originally to use with my little bookshelf stereo in my office since one of its speakers has gone bad. I didn't want to get some new system with multiple little speakers and a big bass box - for my office, two speakers are plenty. However, it was really hard to get these T40's to work with the stereo using the included adapter, which was just a little one-piece mp3-jack-to-dual-RCA-plug thing that didn't work with my stereo.
  • Pros: speakers sound great - and there are only TWO of them; nice price (especially with a rebate)
  • Cons: on-off switch is in a very very very awkward place on the back of one of the speakers where it is hard to reach; adapter for interface to a "normal" stereo system is not very useful
