Summary: I recently sold my Logitech Z5500s when I moved, and picked up some Altec Lansing speakers. I was disappointed with the volume sounds quality was good, so I started hunting for an upgrade. I really did not want to fuss with another 5.1 setup in my room, due to its oblong shape. I found these, and picked up a set. Even with my onboard sound, they are excellent. I am still breaking them in, but even half volume is enough to overpower the 10x15 room.
Pros: Very solidly built speaker set. Includes an auxiliary cable for hooking up an ipod/mp3 player/etc. Setup was only about 5 minutes- very simple. Music sounds amazing on this setup, I am very pleased.
Cons: When watching TV/Movies, I find myself wanting to turn up the volume during long speeches/dialog, then turn it down when there are action scenes. I realize it is hard to change this, since there is not center channel. Further adjustment in control panel may alleviate this issue.
