small size/sound

Bill B., Crutchfield
29 April 2014
  • Summary: For its size, and I consider it small, it puts out comparable sound. I purchased it after Crutchfield recommended it. It does not have the volume or punch I was looking for. I may give it to my younger daughter. I had temporarily removed 2 Axiom outdoor speakers and was looking for a substitute. Believe I was asking too much out of the little Cambridge. If you're looking for portability and decent sound quality this may do it. High volume and punch: No.
  • Pros: Cost, portability, sound quality.
  • Cons: Not much volume or bass punch.

Disappointing Bluetooth performance

LNash, Crutchfield
16 February 2014
  • Summary: The speaker sounded very good but i was very disappointed with the Bluetooth performance. Range seemed very limited. To the point i suspect the unit I had might have been defective. I exchanged it for the Bose Sound Link III at twice the price. I will always wonder if the Bluetooth performance was typical of the Minx Go or just a problem with the unit I tried.
  • Pros: Very good sound
  • Cons: Bluetooth range an issue, at least with the unit I had.

OK for rock and roll, not so good for classical

Eileen, Crutchfield
20 November 2013
  • Summary: This speaker has a great sound for listening to talk radio or rock music. The bass is amazing. However the higher, treble frequencies are really lacking and definitely not good for classical music. Violins sound dead and harpsichord sound is non-existent, overall sound is muddy. I sent it back and bought the Bose Sound Link Mini...a vast improvement and well worth the extra $50.
  • Pros: Heavy bass if you like that sort of thing
  • Cons: Weak middle and higher frequencies

OK sound but terrible Bluetooth range.

John, Amazon
23 February 2015
  • Summary: The sound is OK but I was expecting more having read the reviews. The Bluetooth range is terrible. Audio from my phone started to cut out when I put my phone in my pocket. I returned this and bought the Bose Soundlink Mini. The sound from that is in a different league.

a letdown

Dr. Gareth Scott "thearchdandy", Amazon
19 January 2015
  • Summary: For the money the sound quality was pretty disappointing. Had read/viewed numerous reviews before purchasing and it seemed that this would be a great speaker to buy but compared to the Bose SoundLink Mini I previously had the sound quality was poor.

Good quality for out-of-home / portable use, but not quite good enough to use as a home stereo system.

John, Amazon
23 December 2014
  • Summary: Good if you want a portable wireless speaker to carry with you, however, if you are looking for a small speaker system for your home, you might be better off getting a micro stereo system (where you can also have Bluetooth connectivity as well as DAB, etc). Sound quality is not quite as room-filling as the larger Bose home stereo system. Also sound is of course not really in stereo.

Good for outdoors, but certainly not for an audophile.

Michal, Amazon
9 July 2014
  • Summary: I did some extensive online research before ordering this speaker. I must admit it didn't stand to standard of how it was praised. Yes, it probably is one of the top picks in this price range, but it didn't match the opinions on crispness and balance. It does have a kick, I admit, it does keep for a wee 8 hours of usage or more, but what it lacks is purity and crispness of sound. This is certainly not a pick for an audiophile.
