Bose Computer MusicMonitor
28 June 2009
Excerpt: Laiq and I had recently done a shootout between the Sennheiser 350 and the Bose QC3. The flurry of comments revealed lots of strikingly different views and opinions, but then variety is what it's all about. Ironically, that same week I was invited for a one-on-one with the product manager of Bose, for the preview of a new product that will soon launch in India: the Computer MusicMonitor.
Conclusion: The Computer MusicMonitor has a pleasant, crisp delivery but lacks bass presence and costs a whopping $400. Bose should at least add some extra features to the remote to justify the high price.
Pros: Clarity in mid and high frequencies. Upwardly angled for desktop listening. Sleek and compact design. Powerful output.
Cons: Overpriced. Very little low-end presence. Remote is limited.
Excerpt: Most people like to turn up the bass in music because it really gives it that kick. Duran Duran's "Notorious" definitely wouldn't feel the same without the punchy bass drum accentuated with an eighties bass line. However producing bass is highly dependent on the speaker and cabinet size. To produce low frequencies you need more air moving, and that also requires more space.
