Pros: Small, will sound good to those clueless about audio
Cons: Midrange sounds (the depth of vocals, many instruments, etc) come from the sub rather than satellites (sounds very unnatural and muffled), sats are horrible, control pod thing is annoying, overall bad sound
Summary: We bought the Companion 3 from costco.ca for our living room entertainment setup. We wanted to merge the sound from the computer and TV for convenience and cost (our TV is a secondary monitor on our computer). We have the Bose Sounddock for our iPod and LOVE the sound quality, so Bose was an obvious choice. We hooked it up and right off the bat there was a short in the left cable that actually killed the speaker about 20 days later.
Summary: I splurged on this based on the brand name, it is terrible. There is a static noise coming from the speakers when there is no sound source connected to it. It is present at low volume, with music, without... Stay away from these....
