Summary: These speakers have a definite mid bass hump (around 180 hz). Since I generally only listen to ALAC rips in iTunes I can use the programs resident EQ to smooth that out. Otherwise that bass hump destroys the otherwise smooth response of the speakers. There are probably other speakers near this price that have a better response in this regard (Emotiva 4S perhaps). The optional stands help this a bit too but more importantly they point the tweeters at the listener's ears.
Summary: These computer speakers have excellent clarity and superior imaging. The bass is not quite as warm as I would like it to be. Hooking the two speakers together requires the old fashion way of using speaker wire attached by screw terminals. However, these terminals are the most malevolent ever designed seemingly pushing off the wire as I tightened. Remove about 1½ inches of insulation on the wire ends and securely wrap it one full turn or a little more before tightening.
Summary: A few months ago I purchased these speakers to have higher quality speakers and they rock! They give off a nice full sound, easy set up, and well built. All the cords it came with were long enough for me to move around as needed and not need them right next to a plug. My one slight problem that I've noticed is you need to have it turned up to get the most out of them. If it is low the bass really trails off, but if I turn it up a bit these sound beautiful and amazing.
Summary: At first I was skeptical on buying the Audioengine A2, since it looked to be overpriced and looking at the $100 M-Audios. I did have a bad experience, with my first batch of the A2 from the Seller( was not cooperative) the right speaker was dead(due to the broken Amp in the left speaker) Luckily, Audioengine give your 3 years of warranty and sent it( you pay your own shipping) The speakers sound phenomenal, they give your music life and distinguish every highs, mids and...
Summary: really like the speakers overall, they have an excellent build quality, design, packaging and sound. The only downside is they are very small speakers so they don't have any low end. Pair these up with your favorite sub woofer and enjoy.
Summary: These are some punchy dark sounding speakers. Mid tones and highs are not very crispy. You will have to use sound card EQ software to shape the sound for your particular taste. They are heavy little rascals and the main speaker does some pumping and you can feel the air pumping out the front lower slit opening. The Kevlar cone construction seems interesting and a bit unusual but seems to be something that may go the distance if the cone flex outer ring ages well.
Summary: I received these first, with the intention of setting them up with Audioengine's D1 Digital to Analog converter / Pre-Amp / Headphone amp. I connected them via one of the 2 3.5mm cables to my Macbook Pro 13". I set the manual volume knob to about 90% and ten controlled the volume digitally with the laptop's controls. They sounded shockingly good out of the box.
