Unhappy with the sound quality.

Rayman, Amazon
24 August 2014
  • Summary: Hate to be a dissenter, but I don't think that the sound reproduction is all that great, especially compared to the purchase price for the product. Like others, I found that the sound does greatly improve, although not enough, when the speaker is tilted up at an angle. Unless you end up springing extra for the separate stands, it can be something of a hassle to make your own that not only work, but also look halfway decent.

Popping sound occurs during games, movies, youtube and sound goes away

AJ "Ajurdi", Amazon
26 May 2014
  • Summary: I have a Mac Pro desktop and wanted to purchase a good pair of speakers. These are very nice looking and deliver great sound, but I can not watch a movie or play a game or let alone watch a full youtube video without the speakers popping and sound is lost. Ive even tried them on my windows 8 partition and its even worse. Not worth the price and I regret buying them. They're only 2 months old.

Audioengine A2+

Fred, Crutchfield
23 January 2014
  • Summary: Great Detail, and clarity, but no matter how I positioned the speakers I was unable to created a proper sound stage or imaging. Its sounded like I was listening to a very good system in a large arena or stadium. My cheaper Klipsch computer system created a better sound stage with the vocals clearly identified in the center of the sound stage.
  • Pros: Great detail
  • Cons: poor sound stage

Too many flaws for such a high pricetag

AZ258, Amazon
7 July 2013
  • Summary: After reading many of the five star reviews of these speakers I thought that they were for sure some of the best speakers that $200 could buy. Unfortunately, after receiving them, I was quite disappointed. Note: I came from an older Logitech Z-2300 speaker setup (2.1) Pros: They look gorgeous.

Great build quality, Poor sound

William C., Amazon
2 January 2013
  • Summary: These speakers are beautiful and solidly built. However they are tuned to be bass heavy, which is fine if the tweeters produced some highs as well. Unfortunately the tweeters are excessively muted. So much so that I thought they were not connected and that I was just hearing the midbass driver. I put my ear up to the tweets and they were indeed attempting some sound production. Even after letting them burn in for three days, the sound never opened up.

  • Summary: decided to buy into the audioengine a2 after hearing lots of hype. +small size +discreet, understated looks +volume to fill medium sized room +very nice quality build (body, volume knob, connections) -rear volume control -limited low frequency response (lower than stated) -low detail -MUDDY unboxing reaction: wow these things are SMALL! first listen reaction:wow these things sound muddy/muted! the mid-lows are sloppy, and the high end seems missing or highly attenuated.

Not great

harrisd, Amazon
26 December 2010
  • Summary: Have had these a couple of months now and have tried them with different sources and in different places to try and get some decent sound out of them. Have given up on them now. Yes they are small and they can go loud but that seems to be it. For me they give too much bass and just don't sound good.

Well I thought they were poor

JH "jh27", Amazon
29 July 2010
  • Summary: I'm a little nervous of reviewing these speakers as I seem to be the odd one out - I don't like them. I was looking for a new pair of speakers for my pc to replace my ancient, and cheap, Altec Lansings. A bought the ALs a few years ago and since then broadband has got faster, the iPlayer has been introduced and I'm now listening to streamed music and watching the iPlayer, so a decent pair of speakers seemed like a good idea.
