Summary: Let me start off with saying, these speakers look absolutely immaculate, the finish and design are perfect. But unfortunately that's not the primary function a speaker should perform. These are not bad speakers, but they're definitely not great especially seen the price. I think whether you have a music background or not, is irrelevant in this case.

Summary: Just an FYI, although these speakers are well built, look great, packaged superbly and you would THINK would be a great deal, keep in mind these facts: -If you buy from the company website, you get a wonderful 30 day money back guarentee. Whippy doo, every vendor in the world gives that if you purchase via the internet or mail or whatever, the PROBLEM is when you TRY to return, their return shipment warehouse is in EJ and BME. Which means you pay extra charges.
Cons: I basically stopped using this website for research after buying these. Muffled sound, no clarity, no punch whatsoever. I was couldn't wait to get these in the mail after I ordered them from BHPhoto. They were packaged very nicely in individual velvety b
Summary: I was so psych'd about getting these to replace my Klipsch 2.1 speakers that had significant feedback issues at low or no volume. I purchased the white glossy set - beautiful looking. And dead. I plugged them in and received a loud horrible buzzing/feedback through both and had to immediately turn them off. Thinking maybe it was a source issue, I unplugged the 1/8 feed jack - and the noise remained.
Summary: I have purchased these speakers after reading a positive review in an electronics magazine to use them as replacement for my weak built-in TV speakers, to discover sadly that they are actually much much weaker than my free built-in ones!! Simply, they shake and resonate at even the lowest volumes, distortion is unbelievably noisy that you cannot even recognize movies' dialogues!! sound quality is at the lowest, and no remote control!
Sound disappointing for price + not shipped as pictured (new design ugly)

Summary: The speakers being shipped by AudioEngine (and sold through Amazon and other outlets) are not as pictured on the AudioEngine website or in Amazon's official photos. They now have a large, hideously ugly name and logo printed across the front of the speaker, completely ruining their formerly clean and attractive design. They will no longer be usable in my living room where I intended to put them.
Summary: After reading so many great reviews, I was excited to get a pair of these speakers. I was looking for compact, quality high to mid range speakers for music, video, and podcasts. Given Audioengine's great reputation, I thought these speakers might be a perfect fit. Well to put it bluntly, these speakers sounded horrible and I returned them. - The build quality is very good and the packaging is excellent. They certainly look and feel like a quality pair of speakers.
