Serendipity: Lady of Mew, Amazon

Summary: It plays music, is powered through a USB on the PC, but if there's no music playing, there's a static feedback sound. It's not bad enough to send them back, but I wouldn't recommend them. They are also kind of on the quiet side.
Unpowered ARCTICs pulled too much power from older MacBook

Summary: I purchased a pair of ARCTIC S111 speakers two years ago to use with my wife's vintage MacBook. The sound quality was great, and loved the small footprint so we gave it five stars. Then my mother-in-law's eMac crashed, so we gave her our retired 2007 Mac Mini and threw in the ARCTIC speakers.
Summary: These speakers were great the first month or two but since then, there is a short or something and I can't get them to work most of the time. I guess they were too cheap to be quality speakers.

Summary: Speakers arrived DOA. Tried on several devices, and it failed on all of them. Update: I have now learned that the USB plug is what powers the speakers. I didn't understand that. Had I plugged it in, they probably would have worked.
