Summary: Been almost a year since I bought these, and I have to say, I am not as impressed with these as I was with the speakers/subwoofer from ~2003. The bass nob seems like there isn't any adjusting going on, it's like on/off. And the off position still put out a mumbling bass sound that seems to cover up the other frequencies. Sounds like there are hardly any highs being delivered.
Summary: Sooo, basically the sub is extremely powerful for the price BUT the satellite speakers sound a little "crunchy" and weak. To be more descriptive, the satellite speakers are where the voice comes from but they are overpowered by the bass of the sub. For my college dorm room they do the trick because nobody around here really knows about music like I do. Overall I would recommend them for the price.
Not bad for the price, but they produce an odd peak at 1.5 kHz

Summary: So, I wasn't expecting great things based on what I paid for these, and they do sound better than my previous Logitech cheapo 2.1 set, but I kept hearing something weird that made me investigate using a frequency response analysis program (Arta, found at http://www.artalabs.hr/). I calibrated my mic, did a sine sweep on some reference speakers to normalize/flatten the response, and just pumped pink noise through the speakers and looked at the response curve.
Summary: I actually think that these speakers would be great if i were throwing a party in my apartment but unfortunately most nights, I'm not. Most times id like to hear sometHing play at a mid to med high level without feeling it thumping throughout the floor and walls. Unfortunately, even with the bass knob turned all the way down it still rocks out with its cock out as if it were showing off for the neighbors. Even after tweaking my PC eq, still sends booms through my spine.
Okay speakers for under 100$ But, mids are too muffled.

Summary: Everything you need is included in the box. Not sure why Amazon recommends buying extra wires. There's a lot of BASS. But, you have knobs to fiddle with, and your music playing app should have an EQ anyways, right? To further lower bass. EDIT: After having these speakers a few months I now wish I had purchased another brand. The mids are very muffled and laying the speakers on their sides just looks stupid.
Summary: They look fancy, but they don't sound fancy. I bought this product to replace my old Altec Lansing speakers, which shorted out after 5-years of reliable service. I've had my Altec Lansing Octane 7 computer speakers for about three-years now, and I'm looking to upgrade to a Logitech Z313 system, as it seems more promising per the reviews.
Summary: Got this to replace my Altec Lansing VS4221 2.1 system when it finally gave up the ghost. Would have got the same thing again but couldn't bring myself to pay twice what I paid for the first one so thought i'd try this. Highs were tinny and base was muddy and distorted. Very possible I just got a bad unit. Overall I have been impressed with altec speakers but this unit didn't cut it. Returned it and got Cyber Acoustics (CA-3602a).
Summary: I find it harder and harder to find high quality computer speakers. I'm guessing it's because the general public is all about price and not concerned with true sound reprodution. I had high hopes for these with the tweeter, midrange, and subwoofer design. In reality, they sound okay, but not as crisp as other older Altecs. They do sound much better than most brands of the same price.
Summary: I am not an audiophile, so I can't give a precise description of the way this speaker system sounds, but I do know how music should sound. My first impression was that the bass was booming and mushy. I had the subwoofer unit under a desk. The booming was reduced by moving the subwoofer into a more open position. I also turned the bass adjustment knob down low and then used the computer's audio equalizer to further attenuate the 100 Hz channel by about 6 dB.
OK the the price but not of Altec Lansing performance

Summary: System is OK, but for Altec Lansing it's at best questionable. Have other Altek Lansing systems both older & recent and the older systems have far more volume and bass output. I'll keep it for the price ($40, free ship) but I'm not impressed.
