Summary: These speakers are powered so they provide loud sound and a much needed upgrade to the unpowered ones we had previously for my sons room. DO NOT expect fantastic sound from them- they are great for the price 35$ but lack proper balance from left and right speakers and do not have a bass control for the sub woofer. There is a tone control but it just makes the right speaker more and less loud essentially.
Summary: The speaker worked for a few months, then the audio jack starts to have problems. I got these on sale, but it's not worth it if it break so easily. Edit: I realize my original review did not tell others much about the speaker. So after testing the speaker again, I found out what cause the speaker to have no sounds. The original audio cable broke.
Summary: Product arrived quickly and as advertised. Installation was simple (what do you expect from a set of speakers). Sound is reasonable for this price range. My disappointment comes from the headphone jack which is defective. Unfortunately I found this out several weeks after installation and after I had long since thrown away the packaging. Not worth my effort to return the item (and/or pay for shipping costs).
Sound quality not as good as previous Altec Lansing 2.1 sets

Summary: This is my third set of Altec Lansing 2.1 computer speakers. Previous sets I've owned offered deeper bass and produced more sound without distortion. Though this set is a few dollars cheaper than sets I've owned previously ($50 vs. $75), I expected more sound and deeper bass, based on reviews found here at Amazon. It isn't a bad set of speakers, they are merely mediocre.
Summary: I have both this system and the Logitech Z313 Speaker System , so I will use this review to compare this system to the Logitech. This system's PROS: 1. Loud and good low-end bass at high volumes. I was impressed with the sound of this system when I turn it up, especially compared to the Logitech. It sounded much better and much louder! 2. This is a Pro and Con...it has a TONE knob on the right speaker along with the VOLUME. This is a good, but not good enough.
Summary: I bought this based on other reviews. I was surprised to find that the base overpowers the rest of the sound. I listen to music and watch TV from my computer. I find that it sounds like everything is coming out of a tunnel. There isn't a way to decrease the base specifically, just one dial for "tone" and it doesn't amount to much. I am a big fan of base tones, but these speakers are a little too much.
Summary: If you're planning to use these for a PC, read someone else's review. I suspect they're good for PC. I got these exclusively for their other advertised purpose, "MP3 players". Here's where they went wrong, 1) Cord length. The wire between both speakers is too short, it doesn't even stretch the length of a queen sized bed. It may be perfect to fit on each side of a monitor, but it doesn't work for a room. 2) No bass knob.
