Summary: I love the price; great bang for the buck! They sound good, very crisp high end but the low end is a little boomy. Sounds great at high volume and it has plenty of power for a bedroom setup. I reviewed many PC speakers before buying and I landed on these for the price and power. Altec Lansing is a trusted brand I am happy with my purchase.
Pros: good midrange for a 2.1 system Tonal character easily adjusted Tidy appearance easy to set up extra audio input on front panel. Plenty of volume in a smallish room. Still clear at higher volumes
Cons: Cable: the signal cable from the audio output to the speaker is not the best. Tip: I replaced that by using a high-quality shielded cable which you can plug in easily at the front of the satellite speaker. It made a huge difference to the clarity.
Summary: Easily installed and excellent sound. The main problem I've had with other speakers is a humming or buzzing sound, but none with these speakers. I've bought several items from Overstock and have been pleased with all of the products thus far.
Summary: I gave only 3-stars for ease of installation because there is basically no installation instructions. It would have been nice to have received an instruction manual pointing out that the plug that goes into the computer can also be used to connect your MP3 player directly to the speakers. I had to call Altec Lansing in order to find this out.
Summary: I've been a loyal customer of Altec Speakers for decades. I normally wouldn't buy a product like this online. Due to Altec's reputation I decided to do so and wasn't disappointed. My office area is 11' x 11' and the speakers/subwoofer resonate the area appropriately. I especially appreciate the x-tra jack port on the control panel and used my old speakers in addition to the situation. My old speakers are still utilized, and the 4 speakers with subwoofer pair up nicely.
