Summary: I purchased three of these speakers for classrooms in my school. After receiving them, I opened the box, took off the packaging materials, set it on the desk, and plugged it in to my computer. The sound that came from it easily filled a 30x36 foot classroom, and that was only at half power. I am seriously thinking about getting one of these for my home, the sound is so nice and so full.
Summary: Altec Lansing sound bar is a great addition for a little flat screen TV. This little unit provides a full sound experience for a little unit. My tv has a simulated surround sound feature and with this little unit it seems to fill the tv with sound. If there is a downside the little unit does not have a lot of bass. I just added a subwoofer and it will fill a small room with sound.
Summary: I bought this speakers to use with my desktop but now using it with the TV too. It nests perfectly under my LCD TV. The volume/mute knob is big. This sound bar is the perfect solution for great sound for the price. It can not be used for loud music but definately it can produce really clear sound for a small room.
Summary: These speakers are good for cramped spaces. The quality is okay considering how tightly packed everything is. It is also nice because it doesn't have as many wires. When you have separate speakers you have to run them all around your desk. This is a single unit. The other advantage is you can plug in an additional device on the side like a portable music player in addition to your computer. A headphone jack is available so that you don't have to unplug and plug as much.
Summary: I ordered this item about 2 months ago. I have always had gr8 faith in JBL & Altec Lansing products. When I got this in the mail I took it out of the packaging and set it up. The sound was OK however, it didn't blow me out of my chair. Last week it just stopped working for no reason. The volume button lights up so I know it's getting power. NO SOUND though. I have to write Amazon to see if they will stand by this product.
Summary: This soundbar doesn't fit under any of my three monitors. It stands a little over 4 and half inches high so you can use that dimension to see if it will fit under your monitor. I took the speaker out of it's stand to make it lower and is easily done and looks fine it you want to do that. you have to remove 9 screws in the back but the speaker itself is still completely enclosed. The sound quality from this speaker is OK. Not great but good enough for occasional use.
Summary: For the money, these speakers aren't bad. I wish I had spent a little more, however, and gotten better sound. These are very tinny sounding. Almost no bass and the top of the sound range distorts easily. There isn't a lot of clarity even in the speaker's comfort zone and that zone is narrow. At low volumes, the speakers have a small dynamic range. At high volumes, they distort and require careful EQing to get them to sound OK. I wish I had spent a little more.
