Summary: These speakers are awesome!!! I got them in July for my birthday a few months ago. I use them daily. My wife saw the sub and said "Oh no!... You are going to disturb the neighbors!" (She was right!) They are not perfect, so only four stars (would be 4.5, if that were an option). The easiest way to explain what is missing is to say that some songs (I have only found a few - two were Metal and the other was Hip-Hop) have extra deep bass (below 40 Hz according to specs).
Summary: This is not a whole house system. The Expressionist 6021 is a computer 2.1 system. In a small office this thing rocks. I've had 6000 WATT SYSTEMS. This wont compete, this runs 200 watts MAX. And the sub is 6.5 inches.Altec Lansing customer service.
Pros: Nice balanced sound, very good bass for a 6.5 inch sub. I listen to this for hours at a time.
Cons: Noisy amp... 10% THD is very high, and you will hear it, unless you play it loud., Strange, complicated volume, bass, treble controller. I had to replace mine., Unfriendly speaker cables.
Summary: Great update from my original altec system. Old system still sounds really good but after 15 years it was time to get something new to go along with the new computer. Good bang for your buck. Have the same comment as others in wishing the cords were longer but so be it, hence the 4 rating.
Summary: I bought these to replace an aging logitech 2.1 system that had a short in the connection between the satellites and subwoofer. I read the reviews on this system and decided to give it a shot. I'll start with the negatives. Yes, there is a low level hiss audible when I'm not playing any audio through the speakers. It disappears when any audio is playing - even at the lowest levels. The cables are short. You don't have many options when it comes to placement.
Summary: Great product for a decent price. Sound is very good via optical. The product is very versatile and you could use this as a surround sound in your home theater. Iv'e never herd of this brand but the quality is good and it could definitely compete with the leading brands.
Summary: stop now if you want to read pages of detailed comments. i'm just highlighting a few things. who has time to write all that crap? 1) cables are MUCH TOO SHORT. the subwoofer is quite large and everything goes through that. so you're sub has to be close to your computer. the cables should be about 3' longer or we should have the ability to buy extensions. they're funky and i guess if you knew how to solder you could probably make your own. 2) the subwoofer is big.
Summary: These speakers sound great, and look good. As previous reviewers have noted the cables are a bit short and not extendable, so you have to select the right place to put all the pieces. There is a very small amount of hiss audible when the system is on and nothing is playing, but it is not a problem. The subwoofer carries the low end quite nicely, and the crossover point works well to transition evenly from sub to low driver in the main speakers.
Summary: I bought this about a month ago to replace my Creative Labs iTrigue 3400 2.1 PC speakers. The difference is quite amazing. Pros: Great lows and highs, able to hear a lot that you normally won't hear on lesser speakers Not very expensive 2.1 set Can get LOUD without distorting at high levels Simple set up, wired remote has a headphone and auxilary jack Look awesome Cons: When left on and NOT playing there is a static hiss.
Summary: On the Pro side, this unit is a breeze to set up. Everything is marked so you have no confusion as to where each cable plugs into the sub-woofer/amplifier unit. The highs are crystal clear...the mids are good but have a tendency to distort at high volume levels...the lows are really deep and controlled.
