Summary: I had these for over 7 years and I loved them to pieces. They stopped working on me, and I'd love to replace them, but why are these almost $2,000? I paid 200-300 for mine at frys in 2005. Not sure why they are so expensive on here.
Pros: Excellent sound quality Perfect stereo imaging (esp. in a near-field setup) Satellites can be wall- or stand-mounted Beautiful finish Deep bass Speaker cables can be changed to higher-quality cables if desired
Cons: Low hum coming from subwoofer whenever on Audible hiss from satellites *and sub* whenever on Subwoofer isn't magnetically shielded (not a big issue in these days of LCDs)

Summary: Altec Lansing MX5021: THX, 90W RMS (total continuous power), 20W per satellite with tweeters and 2 midrange drivers, 50W subwoofer I primarily use my PC for gaming and music. I chose the MX5021's, because: a) each satellite has 3 separate driver-speakers (2 mid-range units and a tweeter), which means clearly produced high and mid-range notes b) the sub-woofer is rated for a decent frequency range c) I really like the black colour scheme I was amazed at how big the sub...
Very good, but one big problem (and two small ones)

Summary: I was very impressed with these speakers when I got them with my new 20" iMac for Christmas (I got the white version to match). It is very robust, with a sub and each speaker having two mid-range drivers and a tweater. Plenty of power, unless you want to annoy the neighbors or rattle the furniture, or are hard of hearing.
Summary: First off these sound very good. They are balanced well, that is to say they are not made to blast you with base, but the base comes in as needed to make things sound as they should. There are problems though. As noted by many other reviewers these speakers have hiss when not in use. This is usually only noticable when you are leaning near to them, but at times it is annoying.
Excerpt: Its color coded cables made easier to install every cables it their proper ports or locations. The only thing I found negative about this product is its loud sound quality where it could make my headset fail to function. I really need to buy a headphone which could take the sound requirements of Altec Lansing MX5021. If you are planning to use it with a low quality headphone, just don’t maximize its volume adjustment to avoid your headphone to malfunction.
Pros: MX5021 being a THX Certified system, guarantees great performance. Being a new model its expensive and you are paying some royalty for the THX Certification. But still its definetly worth it. With these you can really tell the difference betwwen good qual
Cons: Expensive. Almost 3000 Rs(approx USD 60) more than 621 Not as loud as 621. This would matter if you have a large room. The sub could have been a little more attractive. Satellites are prone to tipping over. Bass can become boom in case of poorly encoded M
Summary: As the resident speaker reviewer here at MyMac.com, I have the opportunity to listen to a bevy of different speakers, but that has far from made me a jaded reviewer. In fact, I absolutely love opening the box FedEx or UPS drops off to find a new pair of speakers ready to be tested. This time around, it is the MX5021 speaker system from Altec Lansing.
