Summary: Decent output for such a small speaker. I would recommend going into the sound properties of the device if you're using this in windows and unchecking the "loudness" box. It seems to distort at incredibly low volumes.

Summary: I bought this for my mother-in-law. She now prefers watching DVDs on the computer because she can hear better with this speaker than through the television. It's easy enough for her to manage as well, which is nice for someone who's not very tech savvy.
Summary: Needed to boost the sound coming out of my laptop and didn't want to blow a ton of cash or have to be tied to an outlet. This gets the job done. Volume control is wonky but I can work around that. If it's plugged in when the computer sleeps, it will periodically let out a loud whine. Very annoying.
Summary: I absolutely love my Orbit USB Lite Speaker. I purchased one about 6 months ago for my home, and now am ordering another for the office, and travel. It is so reasonable you can have several. It dramatically increases the volume and quality of the sound of your laptop--mine is awful.
Summary: This is a good speaker and I bought it to use to amplify sound on my laptop. I have another similar Altec speaker and I discovered that when I plug in both speakers, sound only comes out of one.
Summary: I got this to replace a portable iHome speaker that was acting up. The reason I use these external portable speakers is because my laptop speaker is pathetic - I can't hear it unless I'm in the same room.
Summary: Excellent portable speaker! I've used a lot of portable speakers over the years, I always want the same thing: easy and good sound. This speaker only needs a USB port which makes it easy. It's one piece, so no crossed wires or extra mess. The sound is surprisingly good for a plug and play speaker.
Summary: speakers are not as loud as i expected, but are pretty clear....no buzzing or screeching sound when computer sleeps, turn or/off... i run ubuntu on my computer, so i don't know if that has something to do with the no screeching sound
