Summary: I use these speakers at work because they have good directional sound. I sit next to a co-worker who is 6 feet away from me and she can never hear my music when i have it at a medium listening level.. Downside: Their construction is large and bulky for a desk.
Summary: Pretty good for a 2.0 speakers, I say. It's the biggest 2.0 speakers with the highest wattages I've used so far. 7.5 watts for each, I believed. It has a very good bass, comparable to Bose Companion II. However, the treble were not as impressive, but managable.
Very good sound quality, but occupies a lot of space

Summary: These speakers offer very good sound quality. While I have definitely listened to speakers with boomier bass, I feel that it has just enough bass. It more than makes up for less bass with superior high end and mid range quality.
Summary: I am so impressed with the power and sound from these little speakers. No subwoofer, but you'd swear there was one in the room. I got these as a replacement for my iMac speakers after my Bose Companion III system bit the dust. I had one of those Gone with the Wind moments...
Summary: THE QUICK TAKE: If you like the design, and need a 2.0 desktop speaker system, these are a good option at current (2011) prices. FULL REVIEW: Altec Lansing has been making self-powered speaker systems (the amplifier is built in) for as long as anyone, and they are very good at it.
Summary: I was excited to use my first Altec Lansing speaker for my desktop, since I know their great reputation in the speaker system. I have been using a 5.1 channel THX-certified speaker system from Logitech (Z-680) for 5 years and have been extremely happy with it.
