A decade plus of abuse, and I'm still loving this little system.

Summary: After a few months of a crappy 5 piece Walmart speaker system on my PC, I took a gamble at the time and placed an order online for the Altec Lansing ATP-3 speaker system. At this point in time, 12-13 years later, I don't recall what I paid but it was an absolute steal. These speakers have moved across the country with me numerous times, lived in an office setting for a while and recently have been neglected and filthy in the bedroom where the subwoofer serves as a stand...
12 years and still the best small 3 speaker set I know

Summary: I bought these with my HP pavillion back when AOL was still #1. They were $99 back then and i'd be pressed to part with them for that price now. Well balanced sound and excellent volume handling for their size. The sound went out a few years back for no apparent reason and after trying to open them up, which I DON"T recommend, they just fixed themselves and I havent had an issue since.
Summary: I love these speakers so much that I bought another set five years after my first set. The original set still works and am going to have my daughter set them up with their laptop. What is different with these is there isn't really an on/off switch like my old ones. My older ones had a push in equals ON , push out equals OFF. There is a green indicator light when you turn the master gain to about seven O clock to let you know that they are indeed on.
Big stereo sound in a itty bitty PC speaker package!

Summary: I originally bought new from a national retailer to replace the cheapies that came with my PC about seven years ago, they have survived two PCs and are still going strong. They have an unbelievable sound that rivals most of my other stereo equipment. I use them in the bedroom to play all the music from my PC. They have excellent clarity, deep, rich bass and plenty of volume. I like them so much I'm looking for a second pair to put on my other PC.
Summary: Altec-Lansing ATP3 PC speakers' left channel has been intermittently dropping output for over a year. Wiggling one of the connectors restored output until this weekend. A screwdriver, multimeter, soldering iron and an hour later we're `living in stereo' again (apologies to The Cars :) Before you dive in take a look at this user's blog: [...] Apparently modifying the unit makes it sound even better!
Summary: Altec Lansing made a great model here. I thought this system was so good I bought another one for my second computer. Clear top frequencies and deep, deep bass contribute to a full and round sound that is very very clear. The sound equals my big stereo set, with its big amp and wooden acoustic-suspension speaker unit. There are limits to its volume, but can do a lot with its 40 watts and it is fully capable of filling a room with orchestral tracks and is great with jazz.
Summary: I'm not sure when I bought these, 2000 or 2001, something like that. And here it is 2010, and these Altec Lansings are still going strong. Admittedly they are now in the basement and don't get as much use as they did in the old days, and the contacts for one of the speakers is getting flakey, but they still sound good and were a overall a great bargain. I hope they last another 10 years!
